BEFORE THE PASSOVER
Monday – September 23, 2019, Elul 23, 5779

Greetings my very precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. God is good and nothing but good. That is not just a religious saying, or pep rally talk to puff one another up, but it is the reality of God, of the Kingdom of God. Whatever is not good in our lives we have allowed even invited by our choices not His. Perhaps you are thinking right now, “why in the world did I start reading this?” Read on dear saints. Until we take full responsibility for our thoughts, our words, and the actions that follow we will be stuck in a spiral of defeat. White knuckling it until Jesus comes or we die. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give us feedback and to partner with us in spreading the good news of the Kingdom of God. Oh, by the way welcome back to this ongoing and powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Let’s dive into todays lesson by first reading aloud our primary Bible text.
John 13:1-5 (KJV)
1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;
3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
Dear brothers and sister we are now within the last 24 hours of the ministry of Jesus as an Anointed man in the earth before the Cross. The featured picture today depicts the “Last Supper” which took place on the eve of Passover. This supper is taking place on the same day as the Crucifixion. The Hebrews and God count time with the (24 hour period) day starting in the evening (approx. 6 PM) and through the day (6 AM) until the next evening.
Genesis 1:5 (KJV)
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
I also tried to find a depiction of the Last Supper that did not have all of the disciples sitting on the same side of the table (smile). The telling of the last day starts in this thirteenth chapter of John. Thirteen is the number of rebellion and depravity. Because of the rebellion and depravity of man starting in the Garden of Eden a Savior was needed to cure the curse, to cure sin, and to start the process of returning mankind to God’s original design and intent.
At this point in the life and ministry of the Anointed (Christ) man (Jesus) He is fully aware of who He is and why He is in the earth. This may not have always been so. It is not clear when Jesus become fully aware from the Father (via Holy Spirit) of who He is and why He is in the earth. He was however referring to God as Father from at least the age of twelve. Age twelve is the age when a male is considered a man and fully capable of serving God and being fully accountable to God. This is celebrated by the Bar Mitzvah ceremony for males and the Bat Mitzvah for females. Oh, how we have dumbed down the education of our children and our expectations of them assuming the responsibilities of men and women before God. Consider the following passage giving some insight into the growing up of our Lord, Christ Jesus.
Luke 2:49-52 (KJV)
49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
I am sure most of you recall this account of when Joseph and Mary had brought Jesus to Jerusalem no doubt for His Bar Mitzvah and He stayed behind unbeknown to them when they left for Nazareth. In the preceding verse His parents are relaying their distress when they discovered He was not in the party they were traveling with. He replies that this should not be a mystery since they know that He is to be about the Father’s business. However, it is not time for His Ministry which is to start in the River Jordan and with the changing of water to wine at the wedding in Cana. As a side note that miracle is also a picture of the mission of Jesus. Recall that Jesus is the Word, the Word is commonly referred to as water in Scripture and wine, like in the Communion, the shed Blood of Jesus. The Word is come to shed His Blood for the full remission, the blotting out, of our sins.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
