AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

BLOOD AND WATER
Well, we are knee deep into 2021 and it is only the 4th! God is so good dear ones, do not look to the left or the right but straight on to Him in whom we trust. Let us judge all things by the Word of God not our feelings. Greetings to all and welcome back to this illuminating and empowering Bible Study of the Book of John. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of the Truth. The featured picture is from last year but it is much the same now. What can I say, winter in Maine? You will recall that in our Bible Study Jesus, the Messiah, has gone to the Cross, has died spiritually, and now physically. His soul (mind, will, and emotions) along with His dead spirit have descended into Hell. His body hangs on the Cross and the Jewish leaders want to get it and the two crucified with Him off the Cross so they can proceed with Passover. They are seemingly completely oblivious to the fact, the Truth, that The Lamb of God has just died for the sins of the whole world backward and forward in time. That is to say from the sin of Adam and Eve until the last sin before the New Heaven and New Earth. How good is our God? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 19:34-38 (KJV)
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
I believe we left off with verse thirty-four last Thursday so that is where I will pick up today. As we look at Scripture and seek to glean the most from it, we need to look at the natural side, and the supernatural (spiritual) side. The natural side will be a reflection of spiritual Truth which is more easily grasped by the natural man (unsaved) and the carnal man (saved but with an unrenewed mind). As I mentioned last week concerning verse thirty-four there are physical, natural reasons, for the pouring forth of blood and water when the soldier pierced His side. Have you ever wondered which side was pierced, the left, the right, perhaps in the middle? Any pictures I have ever seen depict the piercing of Jesus’ side as being on the right. Is that in the Bible? Throughout the crucifixion process there would have been an increasing buildup of blood and water in the lungs, even perhaps in the abdomen. So, when His body was pierced, both water and blood would have gushed forth.
Right from the first sin in the Garden of Eden we are told that life is in the blood. The blood of innocent animals was prophetically looking forward to The Blood that would not just cover (Atone) sin but blot it our completely.
Hebrews 9:22 (KJV)
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Now, for a moment let us go back to the Garden of Eden on the Day of Sin and Death.
Genesis 3:21 (KJV)
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
We are not told much here but we know you can’t get the skin off an animal without the shedding of blood. God Himself covered them that day. In the days to come Moses would codify (organize) animal sacrifice in the Levitical Law. Finally, the fulfillment of life in the Blood would come to the Cross of Golgotha hill.
Genesis 9:4 (KJV)
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
Eternal life is in the shed Blood of Jesus, the Christ (Messiah). When we receive that shed Blood and broken body we are redeemed to everlasting life.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
