Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries an online Church and “The Whole Truth” concerning the “Christmas Story”.
Christmas is a compound word which divides into Christ and mas.
Christ is translated as Messiah and Mas as a celebration. The story starts in the Garden of Eden on that awful day of Sin and Death. A solution was needed.
Genesis 3:15 (NKJV)
15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
After some 2000 years God finds a man who will make a Blood Covenant with Him to bring the Seed, the Messiah into the earth to strip Satan of all he gained from Adam.
Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV)
1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Over hundreds of years God speaks many time of the coming Seed, the Messiah through the Prophets.
Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV)
14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive (be with child) and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. (Immanuel – god-like one, mighty one)
Finally, the time is at hand. Remember God has to work with and through people, things can take time. In some ways it is analogous to herding cats. People have freewill.
Luke 1:5 (NKJV)
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
The virgin Mary is a cousin of Elizabeth, if Elizabeth is a Levite, then so is the Virgin Mary. This gives Jesus a legal claim to the priesthood and us with Him. Joseph is of the tribe of Judah, the kingly tribe. Thus, Jesus is Priest and King and we as well in Him. Next Gabriel an Archangel appears to Zacharias as he is performing his priestly duties.
Luke 1:11-13 (NKJV)
11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
The angel is between the Shew Bread and the Altar of Incense in the Holy Place. The wood of all the furniture is “shittim” from the acacia tree, known for its thorns and means to pierce and scourge. (Exodus 30:1) Continuing with verse twelve.
12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
You may recall that Gabriel had to shut the unbelieving mouth of Zacharias. An illustration of how much authority our words carry be they good or bad.
Luke 1:23-25 (NKJV)
23 And so it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house.
24 Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,
25 “Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”
Now Gabriel an Archangel, perhaps chief of the messenger angels, comes to the virgin Mary.
Luke 1:26-38 (NKJV)
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.
30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Jesus the promised Seed, the Messiah come in the flesh, the Lamb of God is born.
Luke 2:1-7 (NKJV)
1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.
2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.
3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Though we may not like the idea of a baby born to die that was the central mission of Jesus in the earth. For if there was no birth there could be no Cross and no redemption of mankind.
John 1:29 (NKJV)
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Now, Jesus speaking.
Mark 10:45 (KJV)
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
TAKE HOME:
- Sin demanded a penalty; Jesus came to pay that penalty.
- John the Baptist was the forerunner for Jesus, as Elijah was the forerunner for Elisha who did twice the miracles, and Jesus was the forerunner for the Church who are to do greater things.
- The debt of sin is paid, we are free to be citizens of the Kingdom of God, be a son of God.
Tomorrow there will be a brief Christmas Day message, enjoy this time and rejoice for we have a Savior! Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
