FOOT WASHING
Thursday – September 26, 2019, Elul 26, 5779

Greetings my very precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. God is good and nothing but good. That is not just a religious saying, or pep rally talk to puff one another up, but it is the reality of God, of the Kingdom of God. Whatever is not good in our lives we have allowed even invited by our choices not His. Perhaps you are thinking right now, “why in the world did I start reading this?” Determine that you want the whole Truth so read on dear saints. Until we take full responsibility for our thoughts, our words, and the actions that follow we will be stuck in a spiral of defeat. White knuckling it until Jesus comes or we die. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give us feedback and to partner with us in spreading the good news of the Kingdom of God. Oh, by the way welcome back to this ongoing and powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Let’s dive into todays lesson by first reading aloud our primary Bible text.
John 13:4-8 (KJV)
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
As I was sitting before the Lord thinking about this passage and the usual or traditional way this is taught the Lord gave me what I think is a wonderful revelation of another message to be conveyed. In no way am I discounting the view that we are to exercise humility one towards another however I do not think this is the message Jesus is conveying by this foot washing of His disciples. As we look at our primary text, we see Jesus laying aside His garments (His mantle). We see Him pouring water, and washing the feet of the disciples. He tells them that they don’t understand now but they will (we will understand today), and that if they (we don’t) didn’t allow Him to wash their feet they had no part with Him. Now let’s discuss each of these parts and see the whole. First Jesus laid His garments aside. This reminded me of the Anointing that flowed when touched by the woman with the issue of blood. It also reminded me of the garment Elijah dropped when taken by the horsemen of Heaven into Heaven.
2 Kings 2:13-15 (KJV)
13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
Have we bothered to even think about picking up the garments of Jesus, the Anointed mantle that He sent (Holy Spirit) fifty days after the ascension? Next we see Jesus pouring water and washing the disciples’ feet. The water in Scripture is the Word of God, Jesus Himself is the Word, they were being physically washed by Jesus, we are washed with the Holy Spirit and Word. Let’s look at the following passage which is part of a greater whole with the marriage union of a man and woman and Christ (groom) and the Church (bride). Christ, Anointed Word, cleanses the Church and the husband is to cleanse the wife with the Word and Himself simultaneously.
Ephesians 5:25-27 (KJV)
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
The Word of God cleanses us. Of course, we have to receive it, believe it, think it, speak it, and walk it out. You hear me say this over and over, this is the way, there is no other. All in the Kingdom of God now and forever (even 20 trillion years from now) is by faith, in love, and led of the Holy Spirit. Why wash the feet? Well let me leave you in limbo until tomorrow.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
