THE POOR
Thursday – August 15, 2019, Av 14, 5779

Greetings dear partners and friends of this Ministry and this blog. Also, welcome back to this empowering Bible Study of the Book of John. It is only empowering if one chooses to receive, believe, and on purpose bring about a change in thought, speech, and action. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give feedback to Donna and me plus and more importantly expand the reach of these teachings. The beautiful stream featured today is also at Coos Canyon in Byron Maine. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and make a deep dive into the Truth.
John 12:7-11 (KJV)
7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.
9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
I always find Bible Numerology to be so fascinating especially when one considers that the Bible was not written in chapter and verse, but was added later to facilitate easy reference. As you likely know the number seven represents spiritual completion or perfection. Since the day of Sin and Death in the Garden of Eden some four thousand years earlier mankind was without hope of restoration but a Messiah was promised and had now come albeit for the most part unrecognized as such. In just a few days, six to be exact He will die spiritually and physically upon the Cross and the Seed for the return of spiritual and physical perfection will have been sown.
A statement of observed fact in Scripture does not establish the will of God. For example, Jesus’ statement in verse eight of our text is a prime example.
John 12:8 (KJV)
8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.
Are we to conclude that because Jesus said we would always have poor people means that God has ordained some people to be poor? Unfortunately, I think some of you may have answered, yes, and that is 100% wrong. Let me ask about the following verse.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Perhaps someone right now is saying, “oh, but brother Wood Jesus is talking about spiritual abundance not earthly that can be eaten by moths and stolen by thieves”. Really?! You must have found a real good theologian to put that one over on you. Consider the following.
Mark 10:28-30 (KJV)
28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
The Bible is full of the will of God for everyone in Covenant with Him to have overflowing prosperity. Yes, I am talking about cold hard cash brother and sister. Yes, we have spiritual prosperity and it is amazing! However, we have not been given half a deal. Was there any evidence of poverty or physical poorness in the Garden of Eden? Do you suppose there are poor people in Heaven? Is poverty legal in Heaven? That is not to say that millions upon millions have not gone to Heaven spiritually and physically poor but I can assure you that they did not stay poor upon arrival. They were enrolled immediately in classes to learn and accomplish what they did not in the earth. Consider the following verse and then let each of us ask ourselves why we are not the richest people on the face of the earth.
Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)
18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
