THE PROPHETIC VOICE – PART NINE
WHO APPOINTS TO THE OFFICE OF PROPHET?

Greetings my precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Welcome back to this ongoing Sunday Bible Study concerning the Prophetic Voice. It is my desire that each one reading (diligent study) will benefit and come away with a renewed understanding of the pivotal role Prophets have in the Church. In order to maintain some balance here, I want to point out that there are no unimportant roles in the Church. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment and hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give feedback to us, and to further the reach of the gospel. If the Holy Spirit prompts you to share and you don’t just remember this is not the last time you will hear about it. Refusing the promptings of the Holy Spirit is sin and will keep one out of the fulness of God and opens the door for the thief to steal, kill, and destroy. Sin which is unconfessed and unrepented of will come up at the Judgement Seat of Christ. Now, let’s pivot. Today I will be talking about the office of Prophet and you may find some of today as a repeat or to be redundant. First let us remind ourselves of the importance of the office of Prophet.
2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV)
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Of course, our foundation is always God however He uses people in the earth to accomplish His will. Among those He uses (He uses in one way or another all of us) are the Prophets. The role of the Prophet is pivotal in the life of any Church. In the preceding Scripture we find that we are established (in the Kingdom of God) by our believing God. Next we find that believing His Prophets is intimately linked to our prosperity. Let me remind us all that when we speak of prosperity, we are not speaking only of financial wealth but abundance in every area of life.
Amos 3:7 (KJV)
7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
The preceding Scripture should be self-evident to even a casual student of the Bible. Everything God has ever done was announced or commanded by a Prophet including His own coming as the Messiah, the Anointed One. All of the Five-Fold Ministry gifts, positions are given of God and later recognized by men. Take for example Jeremiah, he was recognized and gifted of God as a Prophet from the womb and later recognized by people.
Jeremiah 1:4-12 (KJV)
4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
We see with the Prophet Jeremiah and you may be able to think of other Prophets in Scripture with similar wording that God Anoints and appoints right from the womb. In addition, the Words which He puts in our mouths, He will perform. Notice in the following passages that it is God who places various gifts in the Church not the Pastor or Deacon Board.
1 Corinthians 12:27-29 (KJV)
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? (Bold by Dr. Wood)
Ephesians 4:11-12 (KJV)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (Bold by Dr. Wood)
For those of you who may be thinking or greatly relieved that you are not in ministry should read Ephesians 4:12 a little more carefully. However, let me point out that whatever ministry God has called you too, He has given you talents and gifts to make your ministry call easy.
Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Notice particularly verse thirty. Thirty is the number for the Blood of Jesus, which is the shed Blood that makes our walk before Him easy and light. If you are laboring and heavily laden go to Jesus and He will show you the way to the easy yoke and the light burden.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
