THE PROPHETIC VOICE – PART TEN
BELIEVE – PROSPER – DO NOT MOCK
Sunday – August 25, 2019, Av 24, 5779

Greetings my precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Welcome back to this ongoing Sunday Bible Study concerning the Prophetic Voice. It is my desire that each one reading (diligent study) will benefit and come away with a renewed understanding of the pivotal role Prophets have in the Church. In order to maintain some balance here, I want to point out that there are no unimportant roles in the Church. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment and hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give feedback to us, and to further the reach of the gospel. If the Holy Spirit prompts you to share and you don’t just remember this is not the last time you will hear about it. Unconfessed and unrepented of it will come up again at the Judgement Seat of Christ. I don’t know about you but I would really rather deal with it here and now. Today I will be talking again about the Prophets reward and the dangers of mocking a Prophet.
2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV)
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Believe God, believe the love God has for us, believe that He will without fail perform His Word if we will believe (have faith) in love (right motivation), led of the Holy Spirit. To believe the Prophets does not mean we wait for it to come to pass to believe, it means we believe from the get go. As a second witness consider the following Scripture.
Ezra 6:14 (KJV)
14 And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
The Jews prospered through the prophesying of Haggai and Zechariah. Wow, they actually believed the Prophets and acted upon their Words and prospered. I wonder if there is a lesson here for each of us? Remember that the widow of Zarephath prospered for she received the Prophet (Elijah) as a Prophet (Matthew 10:41).
1 Kings 17:8-16 (KJV)
8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
There is much more to this account than what I have printed here which I limited due to space. Nonetheless this portion of the event provides us with great insight as to the importance of receiving, believing, and doing as the Prophet instructs. This widow profited greatly because she believed the Prophet. There is always profit in doing the Word of the Lord, and the Words of His Prophets. Great destruction can follow thinking little of or mocking and there is no remedy for the despising or mocking.
2 Chronicles 36:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:
16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
One last point I want to make is that when the Prophet arises to speak in our Churches, let us stand still, sit still, cease whatever we are doing and give our full attention to the man or woman of God.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
