WASH THOSE FEET
Tuesday – October 1, 2019, Tishrei 2, 5780
Greetings precious brothers and sister, sons and daughters of the Most High God and welcome back to this empowering Bible Study of the Book of John. Mark 1:14-15 (KJV)
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
We are the sons of the Kingdom of God and have by birth (born again) inherited all the obligations and benefits of the Kingdom. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today and read it aloud.
John 13:4-10 (KJV)
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
As you will recall I am in the midst of teaching about Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. As many of you know this has become institutionalized being a tradition in the Christian Church as a sign of humility. The performance of the foot washing ritual is taught as confirming that we are willing servants and have the humility and meekness of Jesus. This physical act by Jesus illustrates a very powerful and nonnegotiable Truth. There is nothing in the text to suggest that Jesus intended for this to become a tradition in the Church say like Communion which we are commanded to observe on a regular basis. Jesus who is the Word is the cleanser for all of us spiritually and subsequently the flesh as well. I am not talking about a shower here; I am talking about the flesh coming into line with the spirit man. When the spirit man is washed of the thoughts and words of the world there is a healing of all our flesh (and physical prosperity of every type [yes, including hard cash]).
3 John 1:2 (AMP)
2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Proverbs 4:20-22 (ESV)
20 My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.
22 For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Jesus was the feet of God in the earth and now Jesus is about to depart and He was demonstrating that their feet were now the ones to bring the good news into all the earth. They needed to be pure by the washing of the Word and so do ours as we bring the good news. Incomplete washing, partially dirty feet will not have a place in this last enormous wave of the glory and grace of God in the earth. Please be reminded of the following Scriptures from last week. Please fix your mind and your eyes upon these.
Romans 10:13-15 (KJV)
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Ephesians 6:14-16 (KJV)
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
