WHAT HAVE I DONE?
Thursday – October 3, 2019, Tishrei 4, 5780

Greetings precious brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of the Most High God and welcome back to this empowering Bible Study of the Book of John. The featured pictures this week are from a recent overnight at Ocean Point Inn by my beautiful bride and yours truly. Ocean Point is located in East Boothbay and is a beautiful location, a very nice place to stay, and has an excellent inhouse restaurant. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment and hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give us feedback support and to expand the reach of the Truth, the good news of the Kingdom of God. This is the message Jesus preached.
Mark 1:14-15 (KJV)
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
We are the sons of the Kingdom of God and have by birth (born again) inherited all the obligations and benefits of the Kingdom. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today and read it aloud.
John 13:8-13 (KJV)
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
As we pick up with our text above, we see Peter (all too much like us) operating in the flesh while Jesus is using a natural process to demonstrate a spiritual Truth. Never ever forget that Jesus is the Word and it is the Word which cleanses us and gives us the power for wealth (yes, physical wealth) and physical as well as spiritual health. We cannot avoid the Word, the washing, the cleansing of the Word, and have a part in the ministry of Jesus, in the Kingdom of God. Now, let’s look at verse ten in a different translation of the Bible.
John 13:10 (TLB)
10 Jesus replied, “One who has bathed all over needs only to have his feet washed to be entirely clean. Now you are clean—but that isn’t true of everyone here.”
The first part of this verse is reviewing the need and our obligation to bath ourselves in water, the Word of God. However, when we are to minister, we need the Master, the Word, to cleanse us further so as to flow in the Word with Power following. That is to submit even more fully to Him, to operate exactly as He operated in the earth. Yes, yes, we can do that, we are fully able in Him and are in fact commanded to do just as He did and even greater things (John 14:12). A higher standard is required of His Ministers, all that is in our hand (power) must be cleansed by the Word of God, and we must go everywhere with cleansed beautiful feet that bear the good news, the gospel of peace.
James 3:1 (AMP)
1 NOT MANY [of you] should become teachers (self-constituted censors and reprovers of others), my brethren, for you know that we [teachers] will be judged by a higher standard and with greater severity [than other people; thus we assume the greater accountability and the more condemnation].
Also, notice that it is our responsibility to wash our bodies all over, and then submit to the Master to get those areas (feet) that we may have missed, He will show and cleanse with the Word. Our hands and feet can become contaminated as we traverse the world in our day to day lives so we must be continually washing with the Word of God. The last half of the tenth verse of course is referring to the one who would betray Him, Judas Iscariot. Jesus continues with this knowledge that there is one among them who is about to betray them. The betrayers are among the sheep. Next, we find Jesus sitting down and asking the simple question of whether they understood what He had just done. It is not clear if they understood but it is clear that the Christians to follow did not. I say this because many Churches carry out this meaningless ritual missing the entire point of the physical demonstration. As we finish the primary text, we find Jesus reminding them and us that He is indeed their Master and He is our Master and Lord as well. Notice that Jesus referred to how the disciples referred to Him as Master and Lord. A Master is a teacher or instructor. A Lord is the one with the highest or supreme authority. We will study later that Jesus is sending the Holy Spirit to take over the Teacher function and that Jesus remains Lord or One with highest authority in the Church, and in our individual lives. He is the Word, and the Word of God is to be the final authority in all things for each of us.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
