WHOM SEEK YE

Greetings dear and precious saints of the only living God and welcome back to this engaging Bible Study of the Book of John. Before proceeding please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible. God is so good, we must tell the good, good news. The featured picture today of Donna and me was taken last year in San Antonio, Texas at the Salt Grass Restaurant. We had attended the Southside Church of God with precious friends and were now out for wonderful fellowship and a delicious lunch. Now, let’s dive into our Bible lesson and start by reading our primary Bible text aloud, yes, out loud.
John 18:7-11 (KJV)
7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
When you read down through this text it appears that the only one who knows Jesus is Judas. Even though He was in and out of the Temple many times the people coming to get Him don’t seem to know Him. I guess they did not attend His meetings. They have identified Him, Jesus of Nazareth, as the one they are after so He implores them to let the disciples go. When you look at the other gospels the disciples didn’t just walk away, they fled.
Matthew 26:55-56 (ESV)
55 At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Day after day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me.
56 But all this has taken place that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.
Mark 14:48-50 (ESV)
48 And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me?
49 Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. But let the Scriptures be fulfilled.”
50 And they all left him and fled.
It seems like Jesus taunts this band of religious folks somewhat saying that He had been in the Temple day to day and no one came for Him. Jesus points out it had to be this way for the fulfillment of Scripture. When first approached the crowd that came to take Him captive all fell back under the Power of the Holy Spirit. Then we have the following Scripture amplifying that Jesus willingly surrendered to death.
Matthew 26:52-54 (KJV)
52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
We don’t know exactly how many angels are in a legion. It is thought to be between 2000 and 6000 so this could be 24,000 angels on the low side and 72,000 plus on the high side. Think about it, the following is what one angel is recorded to have done.
2 Kings 19:35 (KJV)
35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
That is 185,000 dead due to one angel and Jesus is talking “more than twelve legions”. Now let’s bring this home.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
If Jesus could call legions of angels to His defense, what about us? Do we believe the Scripture or not? Seems like for the most part we are living far below our station as sons of God. We are supposed to be doing the things Jesus did and even greater. The Eden Mandate, God’s Original Intent, has been lost but it is now being regained preached and walked out. When we say what He says, do what we see Him doing, in faith, powered of love, led of the Holy Spirit absolutely nothing is impossible. Dear sons and daughters of the Most High God we have not seen anything yet. The events which are at the door will be what people refer to as of Biblical proportions. Jesus isn’t going to be the only one to feed 5000 and Moses is not going to be the only one to split a sea. Hang on and ride the emerging Tsunami of Gods’ Glory.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
