CELEBRATE THE GOODNESS OF GOD

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY from Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries, and Donna and me. Today is a national holiday in the United States. Unfortunately, like so many of our holidays it has morphed away from and has been perverted from its original focus. At its conception this day was set aside to give thanks to God, to the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The holy purpose and wonder of this day have been perverted to unholy purposes by many. The original purpose and our purpose is to publicly and privately give thanks to God for our individual blessings, the blessings of our family, of our Church, and of our nation. We are most fortunate and blessed among nations to be one of only two Covenant nations with the Almighty God on the earth.
This National Holiday has come to focus on family, food, football, beer, and many other things. What has happened to us as a people? I am not condemning family, food, football, beer, and other things, however what I am pointing out is that the focus, the overriding central theme of the day, has shifted away from thanksgiving to God. Our relationship with God is eternal, all else is quite temporary. It is a day for family, wonderful foods, and other things; however, those things are never to eclipse thanksgiving to God.
Nothing and no one must ever come before, or take the place of God, either on this day or any other day. Without God we are a lost people and let me assure you there is no Thanksgiving Day in Hell. Let us enjoy ourselves today, enjoy the food, enjoy our family, enjoy our family traditions, and even enjoy the football game if that is your thing. Let us, each one, purpose to make God and the recognition of His goodness the centerpiece of our Thanksgiving Day. He is faithful and merciful beyond compare. Without Him nothing good in our lives is possible. Dear ones God is good to saints and for a season sinners alike.
Now, let’s focus on the power of giving thanks to God. Many times, we are giving thanks in faith, motivated by love (agape), led of the Holy Spirit for things hoped for but not yet in manifestation (Hebrews 11:1). Other times we are giving thanks for the things already in manifestation in our lives. I am not sure most Christians understand the tremendous power that is released in our thanksgiving.
1 Corinthians 15:57 (KJV)
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Did I read that correctly? Thanksgiving to God plays a vital role in obtaining victory in all areas of our lives. It is vital that we recognize the One from whom our victory flows when we step out in faith saying what He says.
2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV)
14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
Did you notice how we triumph in Christ in the knowledge of Him. Knowledge is vital in our Kingdom of God walk with God. We are to make His knowledge our knowledge, believe it, meditate it, then speak it in faith and love with thanksgiving.
TAKE HOME:
- Enjoy this special Holiday to give thanks to God Almighty for His goodness to us as individuals and as a nation. Yes, enjoy the traditions of your family but never make God secondary.
- Our victory and every arena of life is tied up with our thanksgiving to God.
- Our triumph in the earth already bought and paid for by Christ is tied up in our thanksgiving to God. We must walk in knowledge of the Father and the Son and in so doing we are more than conquers, overcomers.
Lord willing, I will resume next Monday with our study of forgiveness. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
