WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries online Church and our continuing study titled “Knowledge of the Truth. Today we will be delving into our worship in spirit and in truth. It is one thing to say “oh yes, I know the definition of knowledge, and I can name four aspects of truth” but it is another to grasp the significance and walk in that significance. As you will see from the following passage, the common concept of worship and the worship the Father desires are two separate things. That is not to say that worship cannot occur on Sunday morning during the song service, it is to say that only a very small portion occurs at that time. Additionally, worship has nothing to do with singing, or other activities that may occur during the singing.
John 4:23-24 (KJV)
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
True worship is to “worship the Father in spirit and in truth:” In a nutshell, worship is absolute; total no holds barred submission to God. We must be submitted to God, and all that entails because in that place is absolute safety. People who are serious about their worship of God will embrace the idea of total submission to the Father in spirit and in truth. Our spirit man, the God breathed part of us is eager and willing to submit to God and be led of the Holy Spirit. The spirit man is yearning to be led of the Spirit of God and tries to push us forward in the ways of God. The Holy Spirit leads our spirit man, and The Holy Spirit never speaks of Himself but always points us to Jesus (John 15:26).
Our soul man (the mind, the will, emotions, intellect, subconscious) also God breathed can increasingly have a role in worship or submission to God as that part of our being is renewed to the Word of God. We generally come into the kingdom with our mind full of the ways of the world. Please be aware, the ways of the world, the ways of confusion, are not the ways of God. Our flesh (physical body and unrenewed mind) has to be crucified daily and must be trained to the knowledge of the Truth.
Our flesh body must be trained to conform to our new status in Christ Jesus. To be a true worshipper we are led of The Holy Spirit through our spirit man, and which guides us into all the Truth. The Father speaks to Jesus; Jesus speaks to The Holy Spirit who speaks to our spirit man. Our only responsibility and acceptable response is to say, “Yes sir, I hear you and will do it” and then do exactly as instructed.
The truth is our guide. First, we will start with how Jesus is our guide. Jesus said that He always did and only did what the Father did (John 5:19) and He only said what the Father said (John 8:38) and in that process He always pleased the Father (John 8:29). That may seem like a tall order, and it is. It involves getting absolute control over our tongues and before that our thoughts. Jesus did this as a man, so it is doable by you and me. We must renew our mind to the knowledge that with God all things are possible.
TAKE HOME:
- The Father desires fellowship with those who worship Him in in spirit and Truth.
- We worship, totally submit, spirit to Spirit.
- We worship God absent all guile.
