Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I speak Grace and peace multiplied unto you as you grow in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
2 Peter 1:2 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
Each of us must determine every day that we are going to grow in our knowledge of Him. I am talking knowledge that is part of our thinking, our speaking, and our actions to bring glory to God, showing the goodness of our God. Not everyone has a good God.
Well yesterday was a very special day, Mothers’ Day. I am certainly thankful to God for wonderful parents, and a Godly mother. My Mom moved to Heaven on the 5th of April 2013, however Patti’s Mom is still with us and lives in Maine. Thank you Father for wonderful Moms in our lives, may we ever honor them for your glory. Whether you had a good childhood or a good mother does not mitigate the Lords’ command to honor or value our parents.
Deuteronomy 5:16 (KJV)
16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Now let us return to our primary text in Colossians. I have been reinforcing not just for you but for me also that this is a faith walk. It started with us accepting Jesus as Lord and it continues to everything we do to this very day. Remember whatever is not of faith, faith in God, is sin (Romans 14:23). We are motivated or driven, fueled by love (agape), focused on the hope we have in Him by faith (unwavering belief in Him, His Word). Let’s once again review our primary text.
Colossians 2:6-10 (KJV)
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In verse eight above the Apostle Paul was cautioning them and us that we must be on the lookout because we have spiritual enemies and they are constantly and consistently probing to see if there is a way into our thoughts, then our lives. These evil spirits through other people will try to corrupt us through philosophy, deceitfulness, traditions of men, and the ways of the world system (remember Satan is the god of that system) and none of it has anything to do with Christ.
Colossians 2:9 goes on to tell us that Jesus today at the right hand of the Father has a physical body and the fullness of the Godhead dwells or lives in Him. The passage continues telling us that we are complete in Him and He is over all principality and power. This places the fullness of the Godhead with and in us and superior to all principality and power. At His resurrection Jesus received an immortal, incorruptible body and we are going to have one just like His soon. We have to wait for mortality to put on immortality but we do not have to wait for the fullness of the Godhead. During the ministry of Jesus on the earth He had the Spirit without limit. We also must strive to have the Spirit of God without limit. So how did it come about that Jesus had the Spirit without limit? He spoke the Word of God and we have reviewed previously He spoke only the Words of the Father led of the Spirit.
John 3:34 (KJV)
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
In this way the lepers were cleansed, blind eyes were opened, the deaf ears were opened, the lame were cured, the maimed were restored, dead were raised and there were many other miracles as well. The work of Calvary has made us just like Jesus and we are to do what he did in the same way that He did it. Just as it pleased the Father that in Jesus all fullness dwelt, our Heavenly Father expects us with all diligence to step into that same place.
Colossians 1:19 (KJV)
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
What is the only way to please the Father?
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
We do this day by day from faith to faith in Jesus name.
