Seems like Fridays come very quickly and here we are again. Please be reminded to pray for the Church of Jesus Christ (born again people). We like nice Church buildings but we are more concerned about the people that may or may not gather in these buildings. Today the Church pictured is the oldest stone Church in Winnipeg, Canada, the Old Kildonan Presbyterian Church, built 1854, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Now back to our study of the Book of Ephesians.
Ephesians 1:2-3 (KJV)
2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Yesterday I talked about the blessing. The root meaning of the Hebrew word translated to English as blessing means: to kneel. This was puzzling at first until I realized that kneeling before another represents full submission. In this case submitting under the mighty Hand of God. Secondly, to bless or be blessed can also be when one speaks well of you or you speak well of them. The Holy Spirit and the Holy Angles will go before us being sure those in our path are already kindly inclined toward us. Third as you study the Word you will find that the blessing is an empowerment from God. The empowerment increases with maturity and it is God releasing His power to accomplish His will concerning our lives and the Kingdom of God which are intimately tied together. However I cannot emphasize enough that first we must empower or bless God in order for Him to bless us, empower us with wonder working power in the earth. The Blessing is loosed by our total submission to Him.
In the latter part of the third verse we see the phrase; “who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” It seems that many try to push off the blessings that God has for us into the bye and bye when we are over there. This verse clearly says that God the Father and God the Son have already, right now given us ALL spiritual blessings. As we kneel (not a physical act) or submit fully to God we empower Him to empower us for the work of God, the work of the Kingdom of God. These empowerments are ours and prepared in the spiritual realm already. Everything that is manifest in the physical realm is first present in the spiritual realm. The preparation of the way before us and our supernatural empowerment in the spirit and the physical comes directly from the Throne of Grace on the wings of the will of our Heavenly Father. We are seated with Jesus at the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 2:6). We are blessed first in that spiritual Heavenly realm which then manifests in the physical earthly realm. Because of the work of the Messiah, the example of the Anointed One, and the empowerment of the Anointing we can do all things.
Philippians 4:13 (KJV)
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
