GUARDING OUR HEART – PART SIX
Saturday – September 21, 2019, Elul 21, 5779
Greetings precious and diligent children, sons and daughters of our Father God. Welcome back to this Saturday series of Traditions, Lies, and Truth. I have been speaking about guarding our heart and I will continue in that vein today. Just as we would not purposely consume corrupted, contaminated, spoiled natural food into our physical body we should be equally if not more diligent to avoid the same for the spiritual body. It is exponentially more important to avoid contaminated or corrupted information from entering our spiritual body than spoiled natural food from entering our natural body. As a reminder recall that everything that effects our natural world has its origins in the spirit realm. Words that we receive as the Truth but are corrupted such that they are contrary to the Word of God will eventually sow stealing, killing, and destroying into our spiritual and natural lives! Let’s do a little review.
Matthew 16:6 (KJV)
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Leaven in Scripture can generally be interpreted as a type of sin. The Pharisees and the Sadducees were teaching a corrupted doctrine for their own advantage. This of curse is evil on two levels, one being the corruption of the Word and the second being the motivation (their own advantage). They were holding the people in bondage by corruption of the Word which in and of itself tells us wickedness is in play. The Truth makes one free (John 8:32). Again, consider the following verse.
Luke 8:18 (KJV)
18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
This is a little confusing in the King James Version but basically what it is saying is that if we are listening to darkness, we will be given more darkness and any light, we have will be taken away from us. Of course, the exact opposite will be true as well and I choose that option. I have determined in my heart to accept no darkness only light. Now, let’s look at some issues that we may address in greater detail down the road. Let’s consider the issue of self-deception. This is when we deceive ourselves without any overt help from our spiritual enemies. We lean to our own understanding or there is something left in the carnal nature we want to satisfy. Of course, the basis of any deception on some level is always the enemy. There is a way the world systems work which had their origins in the ways of God but became perverted by the introduction of falsehoods (lack of faith in God) by the devils. Unfortunately, a common conduit is the Church.
1 Timothy 4:1 (KJV)
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
These doctrines get adopted and incorporated into our belief systems and we think upon them, speak them, and act accordingly. When we lean to these systems which is our own understanding and not the Word of God we get into deep problems.
Proverbs 3:1-6 (KJV)
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

We must also test what we think and speak and be sure it has a firm foundation in the Word of God. When will we learn to lean upon Him, which is to lean upon the Word, to snuggle right up next to our Lord.

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 91:1 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
