AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

SIT ON MY RIGHT HAND
Greetings dear friends and partners of this Ministry and welcome back to this insightful and empowering study of the Book of John. Please take a moment now before we move forward to share this teaching as widely as possible. The featured picture today is one of our favorites from our wedding day. Our God is so good. He has hidden nothing from us. What we don’t know is our choice not His. Many persons from the time of Eve in the Garden of Eden on the Day of Sin and Death have fallen for the deception, the lie, that God is hiding something from us.
Genesis 3:5 (KJV)
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
If they wanted to know something about good and evil all Adam and Eve had to do was ask God about it. They were already gods, but the Serpent introduced doubt as to their identity (their image of likeness). He is attempting to do the same thing today to you and me. We are made in the image and likeness (look like and act like) of God and because we are children of God, we are indeed gods (little g).
Psalm 82:6 (KJV)
6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Jesus confirms this in the gospels. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:17-19 (KJV)
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
Jesus has just come forth from the grave, fully restored as God, the second person of the Co-equal Triune God. The name Jesus is derived from the name Joshua and means Jehovah saved (notice past tense). Remember, Jesus is the Lamb of God slain from before the foundation of the world.
Revelation 13:8-9 (KJV)
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
I don’t know about you, but my name is in “the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world”. From our Book of John text, we find the Redemption provision nearly all-in place, and was fully in place later the same day. What went on in the time between Jesus’ encounter with Mary Magdalene and later that day when He appeared to the disciples? He had taken His Blood to the Mercy Seat. The Blood of Jesus still speaks and will for eternity. Now, let’s turn our attention to the rest of the story in the restoration of Jesus fully as God.
Hebrews 1:10-13 (KJV)
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
I will now spend a little time with verse thirteen. Jesus Himself quoted the Psalmist.
Psalm 110:1 (KJV)
1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Matthew 22:44 (KJV)
44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
We find this phrase about making “his enemies” His “footstool” again later in this Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 10:12-14 (KJV)
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
There is much to consider in this passage, like for example the use of the word ‘man’ in verse twelve. Jesus walked the earth as an Anointed man (like you and me) and that Anointed sinless man died for the sins of the world destroying the works of the devil. Who is Jesus waiting for? Who is making “his enemies” His footstool? You and me!

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
