PEACE BE UNTO YOU

Greetings dear and precious friends and partners of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word blog. Welcome back to this wonderful study of the Bible Book of John. This would be a good time for you to go ahead and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand our reach of the Truth. This year is rushing by and for us in Maine Spring seems to be almost in our grasp, but we have another full month before we should get really excited. It has been quite the ride since the 3rd of November 2020, much has happened and much remains. Let us not turn loose of our faith, the Witness in our heart, nor should we stop believing the Prophets. The featured picture today is of Donna and me last year on Quill Hill in Rangeley Maine. I thought that maybe a summer time picture would add a ray of hope. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:17-19 (KJV)
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
The first thing out of the mouth of Jesus when He is reunited with His disciples is “Peace be unto you”. Jesus has been to the Father and presented His Precious Blood and applied that Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven. That Blood was speaking of our redemption from that moment and will eternally speak. Instead of saying don’t cling to me like with Mary Magdalene He is inviting them to touch Him.
Luke 24:36-40 (KJV)
36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
Can we imagine what it would have been like to have been there that day? Well, our day is coming when we will stand in the presence of our Lord and Savior and touch Him for the first time. Oh, what a day that will be dear saints! Now let’s turn our attention to the topic of peace from the 19th verse of our text.
John 14:26-27 (KJV)
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
There is a peace that the world gives, that the natural man can train and discipline themselves to walk in but we are enabled by the Holy Spirit to walk in a much higher level of peace. Jesus had promised this peace in the preceding passage and now it was to be a reality. This peace is the same peace as the Father, the same peace as Jesus today and in His earthly Ministry. This peace is one of the fruit of our spirit. Of course, at salvation our spirit man’s peace is infantile but with use, exercise, it will grow and function supernaturally.
This word translated as ‘peace’ in English is the transliterated Greek word eirēnē a verb meaning to join, prosperity, one, quietness, rest, to be set at one again with God according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. We can easily see that this is a really big word and not just saying we have a tranquil or quiet feeling (emotion). When we walk in peace we are walking joined with God, real peace does not exist apart from God. True peace gives us access to the prosperity to God. With salvation and the quickening (making alive of our spirit man) we are whole, spirit, soul, and body. The same quietness or tranquility that Jesus had and our Father has is possible for us this side of Heaven. We have access to the rest or provisions of God both spiritual and physical. Of course, the spiritual is far more important for the spiritual realm controls the natural. And last but certainly not least we (mankind) are joined with, one with God.
John 17:21 (KJV)
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
