THE GREATER THINGS – PART FORTY-FIVE

Greetings dear saints of God and welcome back to this exciting, encouraging, and empowering Bible Study focused on doing the works Jesus did and the greater works. These are commanded by the Master, not suggested. In His obedience (agape) and faith the Father did the works and He will do the same through us. Before I move forward, please take a moment to share this Bible teaching and all other teachings as widely as possible. Let each of us do our parts in making the goodness of God known.
It is also Independence Day today and therefore the change of picture. The United States of America is a Covenant nation with the one and only Almighty God. We are one of only two Covenant nations in the earth for all time. The other Covenant nation is Israel. In the case of Israel, it was formed at the will of God (faith and obedience of Abram) for a people to show His glory and provide a mechanism for the Messiah to come. In the case of America our forefathers were looking to establish a nation in Covenant with God based on Holy Scripture. Men and women coming to this nation entered into Covenant with God starting with the Mayflower Compact, November 11, 1620. The Mayflower Compact contains these words: “Having undertaken for the glory of God and advancement of the Christian Faith…[we] combine ourselves together into a civil body politic for…furtherance of the ends aforesaid.” All of the State Constitutions acknowledge God with the exception of Oregon. The following are examples from Maine and Texas.
PREAMBLE.
Objects of government. We the people of Maine, in order to establish justice, insure tranquility, provide for our mutual defense, promote our common welfare, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of liberty, acknowledging with grateful hearts the goodness of the Sovereign Ruler of the Universe in affording us an opportunity, so favorable to the design; and, imploring God’s aid and direction in its accomplishment, do agree to form ourselves into a free and independent State, by the style and title of the State of Maine and do ordain and establish the following Constitution for the government of the same.
PREAMBLE
Humbly invoking the blessings of Almighty God, the people of the State of Texas, do ordain and establish this Constitution.
We are indeed a blessed people above all nations to ever exist upon the earth because we entered Covenant with the only Living God. We based our nation upon the principles, the commands, of Holy Scripture, and we have been careful to honor the Jewish peoples and Israel. Enjoy this day and honor God for our nation with thanksgiving. Know that this nation affords liberty like no other, however, Jesus Christ has brought to us who know Him even greater liberty for eternity. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary study of the Greater Things. Continue reading aloud as we dive into our Scripture texts. Faith comes by hearing and not by seeing, and faith is required to please God.
Last week I left off with once again reviewing the original intent of God and providing the Scriptural foundation, other witnesses, to our primary text.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
In the beginning after God gave mankind all authority, He gave them the Power (the Blessing) to accomplish all they were to do. I ended last week with this verse which establishes the will, the intent of the Triune Co-equal God for His people. He not only passed all authority in the earth to mankind (Genesis 1:26) but gave us the Blessing which is His very own power to back up or establish that authority.
Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
In the preceding verse we find four of the seven commands of the Eden Mandate, these are eternal commands. They are to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, and subdue the earth. I think you can see here the basis for the command to do as Jesus did and even greater works (John 14:12). What an awesome responsibility and just think of the awesome benefits to those reached and for us. This is very doable; we just need to believe. So, what are the other three eternal mandates. I put eternal in there because it seems to me there is this general belief among Christians that things will be entirely different in Heaven, the ages to come. While it is true that our adversaries and the curse will be taken out of the way but the will of God stands.
Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
We are to dress or care for our garden, all that God has given into our hand. We are to guard that garden. And, we are to avoid mixing the knowledge of good and evil which is to do some things the worlds way and some things God’s way.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Next week will be the final week of this series concerning The Greater Things. The new Sunday series will be titled “A Well of Truth”.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
