WHAT LOVE CHOICE HAVE YOU MADE?

Greetings dear brothers and sisters in Christ, and welcome to this ongoing study of “Father Abraham”. As I have said this will by no means be a definitive study of Abraham. I teach the Bible from the Bible. That is not to say that extra-Biblical sources cannot be useful and informative. However, we must never forget that these sources outside of Scripture are not Scripture. We will be reviewing Abraham’s life for it is encouraging for us all to see how God can and does flow in and through imperfect people to accomplish His will. The testimony of Abraham’s life is pivotal to the redemption account and the restitution of all things. I am starting this series of teachings kind of from the end then we will see how the glorious end was achieved. This part of our study will begin at a place that teaches us why an Abraham was necessary.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
God, the Triune God, made man, a human being just a little lower than Himself.
Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
It is thought that man was made (not created) on Mount Moriah where Jerusalem would come to be and then was placed in the Garden of Eden which appears to be towards modern day Kuwait. The man had one command and a consequence for disobedience. That consequence was that if man partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he would die spiritually and physically. Death would enter the earth; we see it under the general term as the curse. All things are in the process of dying, including the earth. Adam was alone initially.
Genesis 2:20 (KJV)
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
A help meet is one ideally suited to come along side to assist in accomplishing our destiny. Here comes Eve.
Genesis 2:21-22 (KJV)
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
It was a happy marriage at least for a time. But there was an adversary in the earth and that was the Serpent, Satan. One might ask “why in the world is Satan in the earth?” Let me ask this, can real love exist without a choice? The day would come when Adam and Eve would have to choose between God and Satan. They made a really bad choice. We are presented with the same choice daily.
Genesis 3:6 (KJV)
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
They sinned, they are instantly spiritually dead, their minds are corrupted with the words of the Serpent, and they are physically dying as is everything around them and now God is speaking to Adam, Eve, and the Serpent. The following verse is God speaking to the Serpent.
Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
God tells the Serpent there is One coming who will strip you of all you gained today. Thank you Father, thank you Jesus the Messiah come in the flesh. A man is needed to give God, the Messiah, legal access into the earth so Abraham is on his way.
TAKE HOME:
- Sin required a Messiah, One who could and would restore, a man would have to give God access, that man was Abraham.
- Love, divine love, agape/agapao, cannot exist without a choice.
- Remember love of God is defined as doing His commandments, living a selfless lifestyle, and walking in Blood Covenant with the Father. When we do the commandments, enticements, of the evil ones we are walking in love with them. We put their words before God.
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
