Greeting from Eastern Gate Ministries International in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is Friday and time for another feeding of the precious Word of the only living God. It is also time to pray for the Church of Jesus Christ. I am not talking about the buildings, although many are beautiful such as the one shown above, but the people who are born again and are striving to be Christians (like Christ). The Church above is the St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, located in St. John, Newfoundland. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) This week I am asking that we pray for the body of Christ not only in America but in Newfoundland and Labrador.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
God is talking to His own people not the people of the world system and He is saying you have some choices to make. Will we make those right choices opening the door for Him to not only heal things in our lives as individuals but the whole land in which we live? God is saying that we, His very own, are wicked and that we must chose to turn from the wickedness. Brother and Sister God is not kicking the door in, He is at the door knocking. Are we going to go to the door or not?
Revelation 3:20-22 (KJV)
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Are we going to let The Word in and fellowship with Him? Will we overcome the things that now weight us down and separated us from Jesus, The Word? Notice Jesus is on the outside, what are we doing that is more important than The Word of God? Will we overcome, will we repent, and will we tear down the high places overcoming the ideas separating us? We are seated with someone else on another throne; will we chose to sit with Jesus and the Father on His throne? Will we chose to have ears to hear or will we continue merrily along celebrating the tradition of men that are devoid of the Power of God? I for one choose to allow God to show me the good, the bad, and the ugly about myself and to repent and go forward in Him more and more like Him. Now back to our study in Colossians and the peace of God or as it says in Philippians the God of peace.
Colossians 3:15 (KJV)
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
I realize that I spent a lot of time previously on this topic and now I have circled back to it again for a whole week. I believe this is at the behest of the Holy Spirit. I implore all of the readers not to cling to the traditional view which is a good feeling or a lack of conflict about something. There is no evidence that Adam had a bad feeling or a conflict before they partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The devil and the world system will work night and day to make sure we have a good feeling about any sin our flesh, our eye, or our pride wants to partake of.
1 John 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
God is the creator of real peace, the God of peace, and it is His peace, and because we are dear children we have His peace. In a baby immature form but none the less His and like a baby matures so can we chose to mature and become more and more like Him understanding, having knowledge of the reality of peace in Him. Remember there are six aspects of the peace of God (see July 6, 2016 issue). The peace of God at its heart is our joining with God making us whole in every sphere. As I end for today and for the week let’s look at this idea in Philippians.
Philippians 4:6-8 (ESV)
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Notice that the instruction not to be anxious about anything is not a suggestion or something we are to try not to do, it is something we are not to do, period. On purpose we choose not to worry. The knowledge we have of the peace of God, which is our peace as well, will guard our hearts and minds. The word ‘heart’ here is the word we have discussed before having to do with the decision maker. Since we have the knowledge of our position in God, in Christ Jesus, the storm about us means nothing for it cannot have a deleterious effect upon us as long as we focus on Him. The word ‘minds’ here is very interesting, the Greek word is transliterated ‘hymon’. The hymen in a woman is that which guards the reproductive organs. The peace of God, our knowledge of the peace of God, will help us to make the right decisions to not let the wrong seed in bringing about a harvest of stealing, killing, and destroying. The right seed, the Word of God, brings a harvest of abundance, it furthers the Kingdom of God.
