Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from Eastern Gate Ministries International. We must remember even on our worst days, when circumstances are really awful, that God is way beyond good, and that our bad circumstances are not from God and are not to be our focus. Children, we are more than conquers and we are to reign in life, we are not victims of circumstance we reign over circumstance.
Romans 8:37 (KJV)
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Romans 5:17 (KJV)
17 … they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
When we find ourselves in the midst of bad circumstances, better yet at the onset, we must immediately go to the Father and ask His wisdom concerning the origin and the solution. Generally there is going to be some repentance involved and some changing in our thought life, our words, and our ways. Now back to our study of the Book of Colossians and briefly to the sixteenth verse (sixteen is the number of love).
Colossians 3:16 (KJV)
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
This Book of Colossians is the twelfth (twelve is the number of God’s perfect government) book of the New Testament. The number three has to do with spiritual completion or resurrection (spiritual and/or physical). And finally, sixteen is the number of love or one might say obedience to Scripture, honoring the Blood Covenant, and the attitude and acts of selflessness. We might summarize this information as follows: the Book of Colossians is at least a part of God’s instruction for our governing of the Kingdom of God, being complete in Him, and governing in love. Notice in the middle and latter part of this sixteenth verse there is this interaction between believers that includes instruction, guidance (correction) through our songs. All the while we are singing in our heart (mind) to the Lord for all of His goodness, His favor towards us. There is much that can be learned in a song service (commonly called Praise and Worship) both good and bad. If we are singing songs of unbelief then we are ignoring Jesus’ admonishment to be careful of what we hear.
Mark 4:24 (KJV)
24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
Let’s take a look at this in the Amplified Translation.
Mark 4:24 (AMP)
24 And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.
Now let’s take what we have read and think about it in light of the following Scripture.
Matthew 6:22-24 (KJV)
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
The songs we sing in and out of Church must agree with the Scripture. It is best if songs are Scripture otherwise we are building a base of knowledge which is dark, false, without power, and putting ourselves in the position of serving another god. On the other hand if we are singing right from the Scripture than we are building the Word of God within us, we are building faith and we are pleasing God.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
