Wow, isn’t this study of Ephesian’s really something? God is so good and He by His will has opened all of this to us. He wants us to understand all things concerning Him, concerning the Kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (KJV)
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
We commonly hear verse nine in somber authoritative voice but generally we don’t then hear the wonderful news of verse ten. The Father is sharing it all with the kids, and I am one of the kids!!! We have the Holy Spirit of God in us communicating with our spirit revealing the things of God, even the deep things of God.
John 16:13 (KJV)
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Now, let’s take a look at our text from Ephesians.
Ephesians 1:19-21 (KJV)
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
When Jesus was raised from the dead, restored as God, and seated at the right hand of Majesty on high and us with and in Him. He and we were placed in position and rank far above every principality, power, might, and dominion (ranks of devils) and every name that is named (like sickness, disease, physical death). Psalm Ninety-one tells us a similar thing except now it is so much better in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 91:9-13 (KJV)
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
In verse nine above we see the conditions for the angelic protection and the authority and capacity to tread all over our enemies. Our enemies cannot come into our lives at will, we must open the door and in effect invite them in to steal, kill, and destroy. Seldom do we realize that we are doing exactly that, and the reason we don’t is a lack of diligence to know Him. Jesus is the head of the Church, the head of the body of Anointing, analogous to a physical body with a head. The difference being that this body can choose to obey or not when the head gives instructions. Before we read the next verse which is given as a confirmation that Jesus is the head of the body, the Church, notice in Ephesians 1:21 that this predominance, this elevated position of the Church is not just for this age but for the age to come.
Colossians 1:18 (KJV)
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Okay let’s pick up with our text in Ephesians.
Ephesians 1:21-23 (KJV)
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Strictly speaking a head does not have feet but a body has both a head and feet. Jesus is the head, the director, the feet are part of the body of Christ, the body of Anointing in the earth. There would be no accomplishments in the earth if there were no anointing of the Holy Spirit people to do His will. We, the Church, are the physical and spiritual mechanism by which Jesus functions in the earth. The Messiah, the Anointed One, by His Holy Spirit filling us moves in the earth. Back in verse twenty we saw the use of the word ‘Christ’ which is the Messiah (Jesus), the Anointed One (Jesus), and the Anointing (Holy Spirit) so we know that this is the design of God in the earth, Jesus the head giving the direction, the Anointed one and His Word showing the way, and the Holy Spirit with and in teaching and empowering (The Blessing) to get the job done. Oh, what a marvelous thing.
