Welcome to todays Bible Study from the Book of Ephesians concerning the “Whole armour of God”.

It is Tuesday and time for each of us to be reminded to pray for our exceptional nation. Not exceptional because of us but because of Him. We are one of two Covenant Nations in the earth with the other being Israel. For over a hundred years (like Israel of old) America has wandered further and further from God with whom we made Covenant from the beginning. We have chosen to become our own god, making the things of life (materialism) our god. We started deciding what was right and what was wrong and went our own way. Then we wonder why the messes. Duh!! Most likely as you read this (leaving early this morning) Patti and I are somewhere high over the United States on our way back home to Maine. Now let’s pickup with our Bible Study from the Book of Ephesians.
Ephesians 6:13-18 (KJV)
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Yesterday I spent some time speaking about the prophetic type and shadow for the girting of the loins. I introduced the breastplate of judgment from the Old Covenant and our new breastplate of righteousness obtained with the ratification of the New Covenant with the blood of Jesus. Recall that when I talked about girding (wrapping about) or the Bible word girt this was about being wrapped in the Truth. I discussed how this area of the body (what we call the privates) is where waste elimination and reproduction occur. The Truth is Jesus, the Word, the Spirit of Truth (Holy Ghost), and Love. We are able with the Truth to distinguish what needs to be discarded (from our thoughts, words, and ways) and what is profitable to keep for the work of God, the work of the Kingdom of God. When we are wrapped, girt about, in the Truth this process of elimination and utilization is not observable to the evil forces about us. If we fail to choose to eliminate what is not of God then the door is open to our enemies for stealing, killing, and destroying in our lives. The breeches prescribed by God for the priests to wear and by extension the kings and prophets were a prophetic type of the Truth to come for all peoples. If we take our breeches off the enemy has access to our processes of elimination of waste and our reproductive or productive areas. In other words he can cause us to be constipated (retained waste) and impotent (incapable of productivity). Let’s read the following text together aloud if you can.
Exodus 28:42-43 (KJV)
42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:
43 And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.
The Woman and The Man were made spiritually naked in the Garden due to sin. Sitting ducks for the Serpent. The Old Testament (Covenant) people only had a covering for sin, by the sacrifice of innocent animals, not a complete expunging of sin which was provided when the Blood Covenant was ratified for eternity by the Blood of Jesus at Calvary. Jesus entered the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place in Heaven with His Blood without sin (He never sinned) however this was not true for these Old Testament priests. There was One coming, Jesus, who would bear our iniquity and it was a law established of God unto those priests and “his seed after him”. The word ‘seed’ here is commonly translated as decedents however it is masculine in gender and singular in number indicating The Seed, Jesus. These folks had a portion of the Truth but they did not have Jesus, and they did not have the Spirit of Truth to guide and empower. They did not have the ability to not sin as we do as we submit to the Holy Spirit so they never entered the Tabernacle or Temple free of sin but God in great mercy and kindness extended a covering until Jesus could come.
Exodus 28:30 (KJV)
30 And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.
The breastplate of judgment in the Old Covenant has become the Breastplate of Righteousness in the New Covenant. Judgment was fully rendered concerning sin upon Calvary’s tree. Those who will accept, chose Jesus as Lord, are free of sins past forever, no covering, but complete purging, we are made the righteousness of God. We still need a covering, the hedge of Job, but our covering is an array of defensive and offensive weapons that can never fail in our complete submission to God. Aaron the High Priest is the type and shadow of our High Priest, Jesus. Justice by way of the Urim and Thummim were in the mind of Aaron and certainly in the mind (heart) of Jesus on the Tree.
We were freed at Calvary from the prison of sin and Satan. Jesus went before the Father with His own precious Blood which is forever upon the Mercy Seat as a witness of our cleansing. Jesus took our judgment, it was in His heart (mind) at Calvary and He did it for the joy set before Him. Now Jesus is forever before the Father pleading (Advocate) our case. So just what is or does this Urim and Thummim mean or represent? Urim is fire and represents the Holy Spirit, all that He is, especially the cleansing of the fire of the Holy Spirit. Thummim is completeness or innocence which is accomplished by the work of Jesus at Calvary and our acceptance of that work at which time the Holy Spirit makes us alive and complete in Him. The Fire of God, the Holy Spirit, cleanses us at salvation, He is the Fire that does not consume, however He is also a fire that does consume as we see at the end of time. Jesus and the Holy Spirit were the agents of God that made the possibility of right standing with God for all peoples a wonderful reality for those who chose Jesus as Lord. O what a deal!!! Tomorrow I will continue with the armour of God.

Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Say: The Lord enables me, strengthens me and guards around about me, His face is shining upon me because I submit to Him, and O He is so gracious to me. He is looking upon me as a glowing Father and I am one with Him in Jesus name.
