THE FATHER LOVES THE SON
Friday – November 23, 2018, Kislev 15, 5779

Greetings and welcome back to this wonderful and faith building (if we chose) Bible Study of the Book of John. I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with family and friends. I also pray that none were slack in giving thanksgiving to our Lord and our God for without Him salvation and our eternal hope would not exist. The featured picture today was taken in the Rangeley Lake area of Maine a few years ago. Now, let’s prepare to get right back into our study by reading our primary text aloud.
John 5:19-23 (KJV)
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
You will recall, if you have been studying along, that we have been talking about how the ministry of Jesus was 100% led of the Spirit of God, led of the Father. He did not say anything or do anything that He was not led to do of the Father. We also talked about this idea of seeing which can be both a witnessing in the natural or a spiritual seeing or leading of the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ ministry was completely Spirit led and so must our ministry on behalf of the Kingdom of God be Spirit led. As we prepare to move into John 5:20 let’s take a look at the following passage to add weight and amplification to what I have been talking about prior to this.
John 16:13-15 (KJV)
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Jesus is telling them that He is headed to the Cross however following that the Spirit of Truth would come to guide them and us into all the Truth. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, will not speak on His own but that which He hears in Heaven (just like He did with Jesus) and He will speak that to us, He will “shew you things”. This is exactly what we have been studying in the ministry of Jesus and the interaction of the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus was the forerunner of the Church. He was our demonstration project, we are to duplicate His ministry in kind and do the greater works as commanded. The ideas are of the Father, the Voice is Jesus, and the Power is Holy Spirit through an obedient vessel in the earth (you and me). They can talk all day in Heaven but nothing will happen until a person with authority in the earth (that is you and me dear saints) speaks the will of God by faith, in love, led of the Holy Spirit.
As I move into verse twenty I want to introduce an idea into our thinking that may make a huge change in our thinking and our development of faith. As we read our text and we come across the word “Son” do not just think in terms of Jesus. You and I who are mature in the Kingdom, led of the Spirit, are also sons of God. Consider the following two passages.
Romans 8:14 (KJV)
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Remember we saw in John 3:34 that when we are sent of God and speak the Words He give us we have the flow of Power without limit. Oh, what a God we serve, when will we quit going our own way according to our own reasoning? The difference between a child of God and a son is maturity.
Galatians 4:1 (KJV)
1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
Galatians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Let your mind soar with the goodness of God and what is possible in obedience to Him, His leadership, our authority and His Power, nothing is impossible to us! Like Jesus, we also looking at verse nineteen do the things we see the Father do. As we go into verse twenty we see that the Father loved Jesus, His One unique Son at that time, but He loves us equally as much today whether we be immature children or sons.
John 17:23 (KJV)
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
