THEY SOUGHT TO TAKE HIM
Friday – June 28, 2019, Sivan 25, 5779
Greetings my precious brothers and sisters in Christ, and we extend the warmest greetings as well to those who have not decided to make Jesus Lord. These structures and others are where the real Church gathers to develop their battle plans. Now let’s turn to our study by first reading our primary Bible text aloud.
John 10:37-42 (KJV)
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
42 And many believed on him there.
When I left off yesterday, we were reading and hopefully meditating the lengthy passage from the eleventh chapter of Romans concerning the Jews and the Gentiles. Unbelief is the reason to be broken off and faith is the reason one stands or is grafted back in. It is good to always be mindful that we owe a great debt to the Jewish peoples. As we return our attention to our primary Bible text, we find the Jews once again rejecting the Truth and seeking to kill the Messiah (Jesus). When they sought to take Jesus, He simply walked away. There was no fight, no struggle, He simply walked away. They had a natural power represented with the use of the word ‘hand’ and that natural power was unable, ill equipped, to handle supernatural power. Jesus has already made it clear that no one will lay a hand on Him until the time. At the time He will lay down His life and He will take it up again. This is not to be misinterpreted as Jesus being suicidal but instead fulfilling His primary mission in the earth.
1 John 3:5-8 (KJV)
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
There is life in the blood, eternal life in the Blood of Jesus. Since the Cross and the shedding of the innocent Blood of Christ Jesus only one sin prevents eternal life and that is the rejection of Jesus as Lord and Savior, a rejection of that precious Blood.
1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV)
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
If Jesus could walk away from the angry Jews that day, we who believe can walk away unscathed from any earthly power. The only sacrifice anyone in the Kingdom of God is called on to make is the death to self (become selfless). In fact, our covenant cannot be in full force until we do die to self and live to Him which brings a glorious spiritual and natural life.
Hebrews 9:16-18 (KJV)
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
The testament referenced here is the Scripture, and the testator is the person entering into the covenant, the responsibilities and benefits of Scripture. God has written the terms of the Covenant and applied His Blood now we, each one of us, exercise freewill to enter or not. Many of us have not entered fully into the Covenant for we have not fully died to self which is our flesh, will, and emotions. The first testament was dedicated with the blood of innocent animals but the second with the precious Blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God who was without sin and without blemish or spot.
Hebrews 9:28 (KJV)
28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
