AT SALVATION OUR LOVE IS IN THE INFANT STAGE

Another week, another month is upon us, and we are moving forward with our study of my book titled “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love”. This study is not about love as the world or even much of the Church defines or fails to define it. The love we are talking about is Divine love, of Divine origin and resident in the spirit of the born-again Christian. This love, like the other fruits of our spirit, are in an infant stage and must be developed by our will. It is the same love that God has. This Divine love (agapē/agapaō) is at its core obedience to Scripture; it is selfless in motive and walks cognizant of Blood Covenant with the Father. I briefly discussed eight different Greek words translated to English as love but are not the love we are talking about and developing in our lives. Absent an understanding of this love, we cannot love God as He loves us, we can’t love our neighbor in a Scriptural way, nor can we love ourselves.
We will now delve into the aspect of love that says we must be selfless in motivations. Just like the eleventh chapter of the Bible Book of Hebrews is known as the faith chapter so the following is known as the love (agapē/agapaō) chapter. In the following passage we see the use of the English word charity instead of the English word love, but it is the God kind of love (agapē) translated from the Greek.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (KJV)
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
As you can see, this passage is all about you, another person, and not about me. It is only about me in the context of reminding, instructing, me what I am not to think, say, or do concerning you. This will not come “natural” for this is not how the world trained us to thinks, talks, and do prior to salvation. We must be mindful and discipline our minds to do things, including this love we are studying, Gods way. Remember that our love for God is manifest by an absolute obedience to Scripture, it is a selfless exercise of our will (free of emotion), and a commitment to the Blood Covenant we entered with God at salvation through Christ Jesus.
Our expression or exercise of love toward God or others is a function of our will and manifests as obedience to the Word of God, it’s not about me but you, and is founded upon, rooted in the indissoluble Blood Covenant between me and God. Let me repeat the selfless part again, it is not about me, it is not about my feelings, but by my will it is all about you, whether you are awful or wonderful. Anything outside of this is a breach of contract or covenant, which is sin. We are then operating in a different, lesser level of love, even as the world sees love. That gives a place to the devils and brings the curse into our lives. Sin in the long run and sometimes in the short run has no upside. Listen to the Words of Jesus.
Matthew 16:24 (AMP)
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also].
TAKE HOME:
- This love, like the other fruits of our spirit, are in an infant stage at salvation and must be developed by our will. It is the same love that God has as are the other fruit.
- Our expression or exercise of love toward God or others is a function of our will and manifests as obedience to the Word of God, it’s not about me but you, and is founded upon, rooted in the indissoluble Blood Covenant between me and God.
- Let me repeat the selfless part again, it is not about me, it is not about my feelings, but by my will it is all about you, whether you are awful or wonderful. Anything outside of this is a breach of contract or covenant, which is sin. We are then operating in a different, lesser level of love, even as the world sees love. That gives a place to the devils and brings the curse into our lives.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
