MORE ABOUT THE COMFORTER
Tuesday – December 10, 2019, Kislev 12, 5780

Greetings dear friend and partners of this powerful ministry of God through us. The year is nearly spent, let us consider where we are and where we need to go. How did I spend this year? Am I on course or off course? Was this year profitable for me, my family, and the Kingdom of God or did I, my family, the Kingdom of God suffer loss as a result of my actions? I don’t know about you but there have been times over the last two years when I thought briefly that the enemy had me by the throat and I was going down for the count. What about you? However, every time without fail our Lord showed me the way of victory and brought me out with a mighty Hand. He always gave me exactly what was needed to take the victory, to come up, and to come ahead. Our God is so very good dear saints! If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons. The pictures this week will be of various scenes, like yesterday, todays picture is from the coast of Maine. I actually robbed them from one of my sister-in-law. Now let’s turn our attention to our Bible Study of the Book of John and read our primary Bible text aloud.
John 14:15-16 (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Well dear ones we are back to love, commandments, and the Comforter. The Comforter is also known as the Holy Spirit. The way I see the various names given the Holy Spirit is the same as the various names given Jesus or God the Father. They are facets of their character or a particular function of their person. For example, you may be a mom/dad, a wife/husband, a daughter/son, perhaps an aunt/uncle, and an employer or employee. Yet it is all you. In each of these roles what is expected and what you do is different, same with God, yet one and the same person. The term Comforter which is the descriptor of the Holy Spirit Jesus uses here is the Greek word transliterated to English as paraklētos according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The One who comes along side (para) and calls (kletos). Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary defines or describes the whole word “paraklētos” as an intercessor, consoler, advocate, and comforter. I am going to take just a little different direction now to bring out something the Lord showed me recently that I think you will find interesting.
1 John 4:15-19 (KJV)
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
Hopefully this passage from first John is familiar to my readers. As you are aware fear is the opposite of love (agape). However, faith and unbelief are inseparably associated with each one. So, there is no confusion fear is intertwined with unbelief and faith with love. It is impossible to operate in faith independent of operating in love or visa versa. The same is true of fear and unbelief/rebellion one cannot operate without the other. Fear and unbelief are hand in hand with rebellion. In addition, notice that fear is associated with torment. Even if you have not thought about this association consciously you know that is true and of course the word of God says it is true (verse 18). I looked up the word torment and found that the antonyms are delight, pleasure, and comfort. Fear and the attending torment are an expression of the presence of demonic forces as love and comfort are expressions of God or more specifically the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. Interesting don’t you think? So, what do you think? Wouldn’t it make sense to pursue after pleasure (in line with the Word of God), delight, and comfort from and through the Comforter by way of love (agape) and obedience to the commandments rather than fear and disobedience and its attendant torment?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
