DO RIGHT AND FEAR NOT

Greetings dear ones, we are honored to have you join this ongoing study of the 91st Psalm. It seems to me that many Christians have at least a passing acquaintance with this Psalm. Many invoked this Psalm during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is generally understood as a Psalm of protection from all evil. As we have learned in the prior teachings, this protection is not automatic just by reading or quoting the Psalm? Well, once again let’s launch into our primary text.
Psalm 91:1-2 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
A Bible idea, concept, reality that seems (at least to me) to be interchangeable with the term “secret place” is “hedge”. I have taught at length about “the curse causeless does not alight”. The curse comes into our lives when the hedge is not established or is down due to defilement which is sin. Review yesterday’s teaching that lists the seven essential elements of continually being in the secret place. Satan complains to God about the hedge around Job.
Job 1:10 (KJV)
10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
We know that Job was an upright man, God said so.
Job 1:1 (KJV)
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
What broke down the hedge which made about him? Well, Job tells us and this is one sin that will break your hedge as well.
Job 3:25 (KJV)
25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
The following Scripture tells us that if we will stay out of fear by being and doing what is right, we are established, in the secret place, and oppression and terror cannot come near us.
Isaiah 54:14 (KJV)
14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
Fear is believing the threats of a far inferior being, far inferior to God and to us over the Word, the character of our Heavenly Father. Let’s review a couple of Scriptures about breaking the hedge (violating the secret place).
Proverbs 26:2 (KJV)
2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
Ecclesiastes 10:8 (KJV)
8 He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.
Intercessors are vital in our lives, be sure there is at least one person that prays for you daily and stands in the gap between you and the Lord. This is the gap in the hedge. And you stand in the gap for those around you and as led of the Holy Spirit.
Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV)
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
If and when you see obvious sin a breaching of another’s secret place, hedge not only stand in the gap but pray the following Scripture.
2 Timothy 2:24-26 (KJV)
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
TAKE HOME:
- Right standing and right doing absent fear keeps us far from oppression and terror.
- When we break the hedge, defile the secret place the serpent can legally bite.
- Stand in the gap for those around you and be sure there are those who are standing in the gap (breach in the hedge, defilement of the secret place) for you.
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
