THE PLACE WHERE NO EVIL BEFALLS US

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this ongoing study of the 91st Psalm. This particular passage of Scripture has been commonly recognized as a Psalm of protection. Protection from all that we need protection from. Like all other benefits in the Kingdom of God there are qualifiers. All of the benefits of the Kingdom are ours at Salvation. I am sure you figured out long ago nothing including salvation is automatic. This is really no different than a job you may have worked. Getting hired requires certain things and being eligible and receiving certain benefits once hired require certain things. First let’s review a little of our study text then the seven elements essential to being in the secret place of the Most High.
Psalm 91:1-2 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
The following is a list of requirements for “dwelling in the secret place”.
- Faith is necessary (Romans 10:17)
- Meditation of the Word the promise is needed (Joshua 1:8)
- We must focus on the promise (2 Corinthians 4:18)
- We must call it done before we see it (Romans 4:17-22)
- We must have knowledge (2 Peter 1:2-4)
- God has given us all things including His protection to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17)
- We must be free of sin (Ezekial 7:8,22)
Now, let’s jump into our primary Bible text continuing to explore the goodness of God.
Psalm 91:9-12 (KJV)
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
As we read then meditate on verse nine, we must ask ourselves and the Lord, have I made the Lord my Lord, my refuge, my habitation. Never assume that because you have said the “sinners prayer”, you’re cute, can quote 100 Scriptures or because you are filled with the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues that you are in the secret place. Just look around at saint and sinner alike. Our demonic enemies pillages pretty much at will in and out of the body of Christ. Of course, we have some theological sacred cows to explain it all.
Now what do we do with the tenth verse. Seems pretty straight forward that in the secret place of the Most High and in the shadow of the Almighty NO evil will befall us. So, when evil befalls us does that mean we are not in the secret place or is it some mysterious will of God and our cross to bear? I hope you knew instantly that it is not the will of God nor our cross to bear. The will of God is nothing but good and abundance according to Heaven’s standards. Our cross to bear is our assignments here in the earth.
Remember how the Devil attempted to tempt Jesus with verses eleven and twelve but left out thirteen.
Luke 4:10-12 (KJV)
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
The Devil was tempting Jesus to be presumptuous, even arrogant, and prideful. We saw this prideful, arrogant presumption during COVID-19 in the body of Christ and in the world. The harvest for many was sickness and death. In the secret place there will be humility and confidence. Isn’t it wonderful to know that these powerful holy angels are at our side not to mention the Holy Spirit within who has all knowledge and all Power. Look at the word “keep” in verse eleven. It is the Hebrew word to English shāmar meaning to hedge about (as with thorns), i.e. guard, generally to protect, and attend to according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Does this sound familiar? Does this sound like worth attaining?
TAKE HOME:
- Are we very sure we have made the LORD our refuge, even the most High, thy habitation
- In the secret place no evil can befall us, so what is left.
- Angels are assigned to guard us, guide us, hedge us about.
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
