A LITTLE MORE ABOUT PEACE
Greetings precious children of God and welcome to The Three Minute Word blog. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at Quill Hill in Rangeley Maine last summer. A beautiful location to visit for those of you who have not been. We are a blessed people if we will focus on Him. The Holy Bible is Gods’ Policy and Procedure Manuel for now and eternity. He has hidden nothing from us.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The word ‘prove’ in the preceding verse has to do with approving, discerning, examining, and allowing. The ball is entirely in our court we decide how much to know and what we will do with what we know. What have you decided, what have I decided? The Word of God is foolishness to the world, unsaved, but is Truth and Light to the saved. Those who are born again (saved) have a quickened spirit man and can hear from God. The Holy Spirit is the Master Teacher, are we taking advantage of that? It is not automatic; we must study the Word of God and spend time with the Lord every day. Spending time with the Lord means that every day we have a private time (prayer closet) with the Lord. I also highly recommend that we all make a habit of talking with Him throughout the day concerning all of the events of our day. Preferably before each event not just after. Also, be sure to have a heart and mouth filled with thanksgiving even when you don’t feel like it. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:26-29 (KJV)
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
As we are ending the week studying the Book of John I am talking about ‘peace’ a fruit of the spirit (our spirit and the Holy Spirit). Peace is not a passive fruit, neither are the other eight fruit of the spirit, but a force released with the maturing.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Let us think about natural fruit trees for a moment. Scripture tells us that things in the natural illustrate or illuminate spiritual Truths.
Romans 1:20 (AMP)
20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification],
An apple tree by itself has very little utility however the apples which are produced by the tree, the fruit, is very beneficial. Our spirit man has a peace tree if I can put it that way which produces the fruit of peace. This peace produced with exercise is a very real force with multiple facets. As you will recall there are at least six aspects or effects of peace, supernatural peace. It shows the way to remain joined (to walk with) with the Lord, peace gives us reassurance of our access to the prosperity of God as joint heirs in Christ Jesus. Our peace can produce (fruit) the same capacity for tranquility in a storm God enjoys (Jesus enjoyed in the earth). With the quickening of our spirit man, the promise of the redemption of our body, we are whole, one (spirit, soul, and body). Our peace, exact duplicate of Jesus’, the Fathers’, and the Holy Spirit gives us access to the whole provision (rest) of God. Finally, this peace gives or makes us one with God according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Remember, peace is one of the three legs of the Kingdom of God.
Romans 14:17 (KJV)
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
The peace of God, our peace received of Him, is to rule our soul (mind, will, emotions) not the other way around.
Colossians 3:15 (KJV)
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
When peace is allowed to rule, to reign, to be the arbitrator, our spirit man will produce all of the benefits noted above. Like everything in the Kingdom of God, this peace, the fruit of peace not only benefits us but those around us and the Kingdom of God. Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
