FLESH IS FLESH AND SPIRIT IS SPIRIT
Friday – October 19, 2018, Cheshvan 10, 5779
Greetings partners, friends, and visitors to this site and this Bible Teaching. I am currently teaching from the Bible Book of John. The featured picture today was taken outside of Archer’s on the Pier in Rockland Maine this summer. Great food and a very picturesque setting. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading it aloud.
John 3:5-9 (KJV)
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
Now in verse five Jesus starts to become a little more specific or detailed in His explanation to Nicodemus. Jesus says that in order to be born again one must be born of water and the Spirit. I think that we clearly understand that we are born again of the Spirit of God, the Grace of God.
Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Faith in what? Faith or full confidence in Jesus, the Word of God, and that name which is above every name by which we are also called. Grace and the Spirit are the same person just a different aspect or functional facet. He is multifaceted but the same person just as we are multifaceted but the same person. So, what about the reference to water? Is that speaking of amniotic fluid in the womb or something else? The reference to water is speaking of the Word of God.
1 Peter 1:23 (KJV)
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
As we move on with Jesus into verse six we see Him then tell Nicodemus that there is a natural birth and there is a spiritual birth which is of the Spirit (capital S). The first birth of our spirit man is of the will of man, the second birth of the spirit is also by the will of man but resulting in a new creation by Holy Spirit. Nicodemus is a spiritual leader in Israel and knows that man is fallen and needs a Messiah a rebirth from above yet he is amazed at the teachings of Jesus. Verse eleven is a little difficult but perhaps the Passion Translation will shed some light.

11 I speak eternal truths about things I know, things I’ve seen and experienced—and still you don’t accept what I reveal.
Jesus tells him in short, look I know what I’m talking about, this is an eternal truth, one available to you Nicodemus in Scripture, I have told you from that knowledge but the Father has shown this to me as well. Why won’t you accept this eternal truth expressed from the beginning? Brother and sister things have not changed, people including ministry leaders are still rejecting the eternal Truth to follow other gods, to follow after the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and pride of life. This brings us to a very interesting verse and a topic I speak of frequently for it is essential to our understanding of our nature.

13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

13 No one has risen into the heavenly realm except the Son of Man who also exists in heaven.” (underline added by Dr. Wood)
How many times have you heard me speak of us, those of us who are born again, our spirit man, existing in Heaven and in us in the earth simultaneously? Even the King James Version is clear saying “the Son of man which is in heaven”. The Passion Translation says; “the Son of Man who also exists in heaven”. We need to develop not only a God inside consciousness but I am right now seated in Heaven at the right hand of the Father in Christ Jesus. I have Heavens view of all things not just a view from the earth. I have access to the mind of Christ as I view all things. I have dominion in the earth (and in Heaven) and that dominion emanates from our spirit man in faith powered by love led of the Spirit of God. When we are told we are far above the devil and his evil cohorts we are far above, let us not let them in our face, we are to trample over them like rag dolls.
