GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT – PART TEN
Greetings and welcome to all who join this blog, the Friday Bible Study titled “Gifts” currently focused on the nine gifts of the Spirit (Holy Spirit). Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the Truth.
As we prepare to move into our study of “Gifts” I am going to ask a question I have asked before in one way or another. Is our land, our community, our State, our Nation healed? Why not? The following Scripture always brings some degree of eye rolling and other negative behaviors, but is it possible that it is the route to healing? Could it be that God is right?
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
It is not the will of God that anyone, not one more person, perish from COVID-19 or any other part of the curse.
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (Bold added)
There is that word ‘repentance’ again. So, why are people perishing, saint and sinner alike? Could there be a lack of repentance in the Church?
2 Timothy 2:25-26 (KJV)
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Perhaps we should consider rejecting the lie, embracing the Truth, and recovering ourselves out of the snare of the devil. Now, let’s dive into our study of “Gifts” from God. Currently I am talking about the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. Each of these gifts of the Spirit conveys or imparts a supernatural ability. Now, let’s turn our attention to the Apostle Paul’s discussion of these gifts of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:1 (KJV)
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
I, for one, do not want to be an ignorant spiritual brother.
1 Corinthians 12:8-11 (KJV)
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
Two weeks ago, I left off our discussion with the gift of healing. The capacity to lay hands or otherwise “pray” for a persons healing is not to be relegated to a special few. We should all be speaking healing into our own lives (bodies) and others. The Church, the body of Christ is immature and not operating in these gifts. It is not that the gifts have not been given, they have been given but the recipients are not using them and they don’t have mentors to encourage use. Why is the body of Christ stunted in its development? To make a long story short, unbelief. The Church chooses to believe in the traditions of men and the doctrines of demons. There is a wicked idea that if we just do more of what we are doing, perhaps with greater enthusiasm or program, we will get a different result. According to Albert Einstein this is the very definition of insanity. Again, review 2 Timothy 2:25-26. Some Pentecostal Churches have the operation of the gifts of tongues and interpretation. Occasionally the gift of prophecy (not Office of Prophet) will be seen. The Five-Fold Ministry is all but absent in the modern Church as the Pastors have taken to themselves all five functions (solitary czars).
As we look further in our text, into verse ten we find the gift of miracles. As we consider this gift of the Spirit given to the body of Christ know it is supposed to be common to believers who are mature. Remember, Jesus said the things (works) I do you shall do also. A miracle is an extraordinary display of power (dynamis according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary). The word ‘dynamis’ translated as ‘miracles’ in our text is found 120 times in the New Testament, 77 times it is translated as ‘power’, 11 times as ‘mighty work’, virtue 3 times, and 7 times it is translated as miracle. According to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary dynamis means ability, abundance, meaning, might, power, strength, violence, or mighty (wonderful) work. Do we truly believe this gift can operate in us; do we believe the working of miracles should be common place among mature believers?

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
