I SPEAK NOT OF MYSELF THE FATHER DOES THE WORKS
Wednesday – November 21, 2018, Kislev 13, 5779

Greetings all and welcome back to this wonderfully stimulating Bible Study of the Book of John. It is Thanksgiving week and a busy week for all American’s or others celebrating abroad. Our primary focus is upon God and the giving of thanks to Him for without Him and the finished work of Calvary we are most miserable and without hope. The turkey and the fixings are all wonderful but please do not neglect God this week but purpose to remain faithful and thankful to Him perhaps even more so as we consider who we are in Him. Now, let’s prepare our hearts to receive starting by reading our primary Bible text aloud.
John 5:19-23 (KJV)
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
As you will recall we have been focusing on the fact that the ministry of Jesus in the earth was as a man and totally directed by the Word and by the Father. Jesus makes it very clear that it is the Father who is doing the works. Jesus was the instrument of the Father in the earth just as we are today. Jesus operated in the light at the direction of the Father just as we must to reflect the Father in our lives. Like Jesus we should be able to say that if you have seen me you have seen the Father. This only occurs when we are in very strict obedience to the Word and the voice of the Father. The power of God will be manifest wherever faith is found. Let’s pursue this a little further.
John 8:28-29 (KJV)
28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
In this passage we see Jesus again repeating that He is not doing His own will (and neither should we be doing our own will) but that of the Father, that the Father is pleased, and in that pleasing the Grace and Glory flows like a river to those with faith. Notice the phrase “the Father hath not left me alone”. This is not talking about the absence of the Father (Holy Spirit) but the absence of the manifestation of the Father through the Holy Spirit. When we are off doing our own thing, not sent of the Father, we are in disobedience which is sin, and the power of God will not flow advancing the Kingdom of God. Let me ask; what pleases God? We are told plainly in the Book of Hebrews that it is impossible for anyone including Jesus to please God without faith. Everything Jesus did was in faith (motivated by love) and led of the Spirit of God. Let’s look at a couple more places before we conclude for today. And, let me emphasize once again, this is what governed His ministry and must govern our ministry.
John 12:50 (KJV)
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
Again, Jesus drives home the fact that He only said what He heard the Father speak. Can we make that confession or do we say all kinds of thing that were never in the mind of the Father?
John 14:10 (KJV)
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
We know that the Father is seated in Heaven as are we in Christ Jesus by the Holy Spirit. In our ministry the will of God originates as a thought with the Father, is communicated to Jesus (the voice), and then to us by the Holy Spirit. We speak the command into the earth and the Power of God is activated by faith and the Grace and Glory of God are manifested. Jesus and we speak the Words of God and the Father through the Holy Spirit does the works.
Tomorrow will be a special Thanksgiving Edition and then Friday we will move back to John and verse twenty (redemption). Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
