THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND GOATS – PART FIVE
Friday – February 9, 2018

Welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. We are in the tenth chapter and have been reviewing the Feasts of the Lord as a result of our text and in recognition of what was addressed by our text. Yesterday I discussed the forth of the four spring feasts, The Day of Pentecost. Today I will move forward to the first of the three fall feasts but first let’s again review our primary text.
Hebrews 10:1-4 (KJV)
1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
The Old Testament saints were always conscious of sin because of the continual offerings for sin that were required. It must have been frustrating without the Holy Spirit, frustrating enough with the Holy Spirit. We are responsible to renew our minds to the Word of God with an ear always attuned to the Holy Spirit and casting down evil (ways of the world) imaginations. We are fully capable in Christ Jesus filled and overflowing with the Holy Spirit to talk and act like God. By act I am talking about real power accomplishing real things in the lives of people just like Jesus. Before we move fully into a discussion of the Feast of Trumpets I want to briefly review the verses that God interjects between Pentecost of Trumpets.
Leviticus 23:21-22 (KJV)
21 And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
22 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
This is the Lord’s instructions on how to treat those who are poor, sick, underemployed, or those unable to work. Generally, in Scripture these would also be described as widows and orphans. It also describes how to treat the stranger which is a foreigner who is visiting in the land. Notice in all cases it was required that they come and get the harvest left behind by the land owner, in todays jargon there was a work requirement. There is nowhere that I am aware of in Scripture where the government played any role in welfare. The one charged by God are the Church and the individual.
There is not much in Scripture about the Feast of Trumpets. It is not mentioned in the New Testament by name. It is discussed however and I will get to that in a few moments. First let’s look at the command in Leviticus twenty-three.
Leviticus 23:23-25 (KJV)
23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
The Feast of Trumpets is the first of the three fall feasts. The three fall feasts are prophetic of coming events as are the four spring feasts. All four of the spring feasts were fulfilled with the first coming of Christ. So, we could quickly conclude that the three fall feasts deal with the second coming of Christ. First let me just say that the Rapture or Catching Away is different and separate from the Second Coming when Jesus feet touch down on the Mount of Olives. The Rapture or Catching Away of the Church is foretold by the Feast of Trumpets. The Second Coming of Christ is foretold by the Day of Atonement, the Church will be complete at that time and the surviving Jews from the holocaust of the Tribulation will recognize and receive Him. He will in fact become the King of the Jews just as Pontius Pilot posted over His head on the Cross. Let us see what the Apostle Paul had to say about the Rapture of the Church.
1 Corinthians 15:51-54 (KJV)
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 (KJV)
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
The Catching away or Rapture is announced to the Church by the voice of the Archangel and the Trump of God, and we will meet Him in the air and off we go to the Beamer (Judgement Seat of Christ) and Marriage Supper.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
