AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

RECEIVE YE THE HOLY GHOST
Greetings precious children of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. We are pleased and blessed by those who utilize these teachings as a daily study of the Word of God. Now, I would ask that each one take a moment and share this teaching and all of these teachings as widely as possible to expend the reach of these Truths. As you will recall Jesus has been resurrected from the dead (physical and spiritual) and has been fully restored as the second person of Triune Co-equal God. As we will see shortly Jesus has a glorified immortal physical body of flesh and bone. This physical part is important for Him to convey authority back to those in covenant with God, and function as our High Priest at the Mercy Seat of Heaven. His Spirit part is restored as He has been for eternity. Mary Magdalene has seen the risen Savior and told the disciples. Now, He is present among them having entered the room without the use of the doors which were locked or windows. As we saw back in verse 19 His first words to these, I suppose startled disciples is “Peace be unto you”. With the exception of Adam mankind has not had the capacity to experience the peace of God. Peace, the capacity for peace is a part of our spirit man and he has been dead until now. These disciples are the first to experience salvation, a quickening, a reuniting of the spirit man with God (Holy Spirit). As we read our primary text for today, we not only see Jesus repeat the command of “Peace be unto you” but says “Receive ye the Holy Ghost”. Let’s read our text aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:21-23 (KJV)
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
When we left off yesterday, I had compared the 22nd verse above with the following verse from the making of man.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
I used the term “the making of man” for part of man is a creation that did not exist before, the body of man. However, the spirit portion, is the spirit of God, not created, and eternal in nature. The spirit in us has been existent in eternity past and will exist in eternity future. When I refer to the spirit remember that we are spirit, soul, and body. The body is not part of the spirit man however the soul is a part of the spirit man. When God breathed of Himself (God is Spirit) into man, the man was given both the spirit and soul. The spirit was alive to God and could communicate with God, the soul (mind, will, and emotions) was a blank sheet. Initially God was the only one to write on that sheet (mind) but as we all know along came the Serpent and he was allowed to write lies into their minds. This is the partaking of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This was forbidden and it brought the curse, death of every sort. Adam died spiritually immediately and eventually physically. In addition, everything around them was full of death, and remains so to this day. We have been redeemed from the curse of sin and death however the total fulfillment awaits the resurrection and the new heaven and the new earth. What are you, what am I allowing the Serpent to write upon our thoughts? Whose thoughts are we choosing moment to moment?
This is not when the disciples or anyone else received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in other tongues. These are the first persons to be born again. The filling, the baptism, full immersion into the Holy Spirit (inside and out) did not occur until the day of Pentecost some 50 days later. At salvation the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) comes and lives within us quickening (making alive) our spirit man. With this quickening we are no longer separated from God but alive to Him to His voice. Consider the following verse as I close for today.

27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

27 The LORD’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive.
The light of the Lord is the Word of God. Jesus was the first born from the dead and now these in their order just like us in our order.
1 Corinthians 15:22-23 (KJV)
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
