AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

HE BREATHED ON THEM
Greetings precious children of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. We are pleased and blessed by those who utilize these teachings as a daily study of the Word of God. Now, I would ask that each one of you take a moment and share this teaching and all of these teachings as widely as possible to expend our reach with these Truths. As you will recall Jesus has been resurrected from the dead (physical and spiritual) and fully restored as the second person of Triune Co-equal God. As we will see shortly Jesus has a glorified immortal physical body of flesh and bone. This physical part is important for Him to convey authority back to those in covenant with God, and function as our High Priest at the Mercy Seat of Heaven. His Spirit part is restored as He has been for eternity. Mary Magdalene has seen the risen Savior and told the disciples. Now, He is present among them having entered without the use of the doors which were locked or windows. As we saw back in verse 19 His first words to these, I suppose startled disciples is “Peace be unto you”. With the exception of Adam mankind has not had the capacity to experience the peace of God. Peace, the capacity for peace is a part of our spirit man which has been dead until now. These disciples are the first to experience salvation, a quickening, a reuniting of the spirit man with God (Holy Spirit). As we read our primary text for today, we see Jesus repeat the command of “Peace be unto you”. Let’s read our text aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:21-23 (KJV)
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
Yesterday as we reviewed the twenty-first verse, we saw how the Fathers’ sending of Jesus was ultimately coupled with His functioning as our Apostle and High Priest. Those functions are operational only as we say what He says (homologia according to
Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary). Homo is same and logia is word(s), same word(s). This is exactly the way it worked with Jesus in His earthly ministry so why would we think we can just run our mouths any old which a way?
John 14:10 (KJV)
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
This is how it will work for us as well, anything else will fail, period. Let’s talk for a moment about the very last phrase of verse twenty-one, “even so send I you”. This word ‘send’ has to do with being sent or dispatched. One dispatched is sent off to a certain location for a certain purpose. This scares many in the body of Christ for they imagine God is going to send them to some place they will find too awful. No, no, and no, where ever God sends you will be the happiest, most fulfilling, and most thrilling place you can imagine. God has equipped each of us with talents, gifts, and desires that when utilized will be the excitement of our lifetime in His service. I for one don’t think that many people are actually in their place, the place God has for them in His excellent plan. Especially here in America we have this attitude, I’m an American, I am free, and I can do as I please. Not true if you are a child of God. God has an amazing plan for each of our lives and in that plan is the fulfillment of our natural and spiritual life. I for one don’t want the Lord to show me my life and the life He planned for me and see what my rebellion against His plan, and my spiritual blindness has cost others and me. I want to see a great big grin on the face of my Savior, my Father, and the Holy Spirit.
As we move into verse twenty-two, we find the Resurrected Lord breathing on these disciples and saying “Receive ye the Holy Ghost”. I don’t know about you, but this looks a lot like the following verse.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
At this very moment as when God breathed into the first man, so with these men they became living souls, they were born again.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
