Friday has come seemingly so quickly, have we done as directed of The Shepard? Today I am reminding you and me to pray for the Church, for the people who say they are called by His name, the name of Jesus. Corruption, philosophy, deceit, the traditions of men, and the ways of the world must be identified in us and in our Churches and torn down in Jesus name. The building pictured is the Mission San Xavier del Bac near Tucson, Arizona and founded in 1692. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Now back to our primary text.
Colossians 2:9-10 (KJV)
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
The phrase “complete in him” means we are replete (full, supplied, abounding, chockful, brimming, and satisfied), covered over, and complete (zero deficiency) in Him. How many adjectives must we hear to develop the faith that we really are the biggest thing in the earth in Him? Let us take a look at our text from a different Bible translation for I think it will increase our illumination.
Colossians 2:8-10 (HCSB)
8 Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ.
9 For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ,
10 and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
Since “God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ, 10 and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority”, just who is left not under us since we are in Him and He is above all? Meditate the following passage then take a minute to show gratitude to the One that did not need a Savior but paid the highest price to be our Savior.
Ephesians 1:19-23 (KJV)
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Jesus is the head and we are the body, the head and the body are inseparable. If the head is above then the body is above. He and we are far above “principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come:” He is not just talking about bad principalities, powers, might, dominion, and names, he said all. Notice in verse twenty-three above that we, the Church is His body. It may be illuminating to think of it like the human body. The brain conceives of something to do and the body does it. The Father conceives an idea, a command, the will of God, Jesus speaks that command through the Holy Spirit to us. So let us get about the Fathers business.
