DARKNESS COMPREHENDS NOT THE LIGHT
Friday – August 31, 2018, Elul 20, 5778

Greetings and welcome back to this wonderful knowledge and faith building Bible Study from the Book of John. No knowledge or knowledge in the wrong thing does not build our faith of God (faith in God). If you believe the wrong thing you may have strong and sincere faith in that thing but it will not activate the Power of God for our knowledge and faith in that knowledge is corrupt. Everything supernatural that takes place in our lives comes by our decreeing the Word of God in faith, motivated by love (agape), and led of the Spirit of God. Taking a person down front in Church and asking God to heal them will not bring a flow of power. A person coming to the front and asking for healing in faith and another decreeing it will bring the flow of Power and healing. Read the healings and miracles of Jesus (Health, Healing, and Miracles) which I am writing and publishing each Sunday. Now, to our primary text, be sure to read it aloud so that it is in our eyes, our mouth, and our ears.
John 1:1-6 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
The featured picture today depicts John the Baptist (end of verse six) in the River Jordan who is neither John the Revelator or the person who wrote this wonderful Book. Light commonly stands for the Word of God which brings conviction, the understanding for the need to repent changing our thoughts, our words, and our ways. The moment Adam sinned on the Day of Sin and Death darkness (spiritual) descended upon mankind and he could no longer see spiritual Truths. Mankind needed life in order to communicate with God for themselves once again. That life was secured by the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross. Man needed light in order to understand the Word of God, to transform his thinking, his speaking, and his behavior. The Word of God is foolishness to the lost before they accept Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV)
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
The Cross of Christ Jesus is the center point of the gospel, it is “this gospel” that Jesus spoke about. If there were no Cross there could be no gospel, no redemption, no eternal life, no return of the Blessing, no restoration of the plan of God (jubilee), only perishing. For the lost (once were among them) who are in darkness there is good news, God has given them the light, and the faith to understand and receive salvation (Romans 12:3). Before the Cross and the coming of Christ Jesus, the sacrifice and Resurrection, and the return of the Blessing (Holy Spirit) men had no light, no way to understand, no conviction of the Holy Spirit to warn them of wrong thoughts, words, and ways. Now we are the light of the world, God’s very own Ambassadors, new creations in Christ Jesus. When the unsaved or as a friend of mine says the presaved are in our presence there is light and they can see the Truth, what will they choose? Is our life a living testimony of the abundant life Jesus died to give us or just a Christianized version of the misery they already have? Let us close all the doors to the devil that allow him to steal, kill, and destroy in our lives and launch forward into the abundant life Jesus paid all for us to have. Jesus pierced the darkness and we are the body of the Anointing to carry that forward until the whole earth is covered in light.
As we come into verse six we see reference to a man sent from God or sent by God and his name was John. This “John” is John the Baptist who brought a baptism of repentance. Today when we repent (receive Jesus as Lord) we are baptized into Christ Jesus and later symbolize that immersion with water (water is symbolic of the Word and total Immersion into Christ Jesus, the Word) baptism. As an aside, John’s mother was one of those rare Old Testament saints baptized in Holy Spirit. A manifestation out of time.
Luke 1:41 (KJV)
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
Listen to the astonishing thing Jesus says about John the Baptist.
Luke 7:28 (KJV)
28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
I can’t speak for you but if Jesus did not tell me this I would not have identified John the Baptist as the greatest Prophet. Then Jesus goes on to say that in spite of that the least in the Kingdom of God (this is you and me) is greater than John. Being filled with Holy Spirit was not an option for the peoples at large and was rare in that dispensation. We will talk a lot more about John the Baptist as we move through this wonderful Book.

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
