THE WILL OF GOD AND THE REALITY OF MAN

This picture was taken a few weeks ago and this is named Small’s Falls, a very scenic and pleasant area to visit about twelve miles out of Rangeley Maine. As we start today’s lesson, I am wondering how many readers are still dealing with left overs from your Thanksgiving Feast. When I left off last Friday, we were dealing with verse twenty from our text below and I was pointing out that the Father now has many sons, and He not only loves His Son Jesus, but all the sons (mature in Him), all the children. Not only that He loves us just like He loves Jesus. And not only that God loves the world, all who are in the world, and would that none perish. Many will choose to perish and not choose eternal life. I am so thankful I had praying parents and others who did not give up and write me off as a lost cause but persisted. Now, let’s read our primary text aloud and move forward.
John 5:19-23 (KJV)
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
We have been reviewing how Jesus only did what the Father showed Him to do and He only said what the Father gave Him to say. I want to take a moment and distinguish between a few things. Let us consider our Covenant with its responsibilities and benefits and being led of the Spirit of God. What we are talking about concerning Jesus and ourselves is the leadership of the Holy Spirit at the direction of the Father. For example, it is the general express and perfect will of God that we walk in divine health and should we by deception or ignorance find ourselves ill it is always His will that we be restored to divine health. Now, this is not what we observe at all, is it? Why? Unbelief or belief(faith) in a corrupted doctrine which is devoid of Power? There is no proper teaching and diligent study to rightly divide the Word so that the expected and only outcome for the Christian is health. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. What are we building faith for? The hope that is set before us which is divine health. As we build faith for divine health it becomes the only possible outcome for us in the Kingdom of God, for a child of God.
Now let’s look at this from the prospective of our ministry to others. Although it is the will of God that all people be saved, that all be prosperous, that all people walk in health, and that all people who are ill be healed we do not see this manifest. This is due to freewill given of God to mankind, deception of the enemy, and poor teaching. We see so many prayer failures because people are not led of the Spirit in who they pray for but by tradition or some other non-biblical guide. We do not see prayer failures in the Ministry of Jesus. Many times, in the ministry of Jesus we see a phrase along the lines of He healed them all when a multitude came however on the other hand, we have just studied the man with an infirmity for thirty-eight years and he was the only one healed that day. We see the example of the man let down through the roof of Jesus’ home and he is the only one healed although there was Anointing (Power) to heal them all (Luke 5:17).
So why did Jesus not just lay hands on all the sick people about the pool of Bethesda or in the house that day? Unbelief! Where there is unbelief the Father (Holy Spirit) is not going to lead Jesus then or us now to lay hands on people. Faith is the only thing that activates the Anointing. I hope that this discussion has brought some clarity to what we see in our own lives and the lives of those around about us. This teaching that God does not heal everyone or that we have to be sick to die is rampant ignorance advanced by the devil. This belief is a lack of faith in the Word of God and faith in the lies of the devil. Sounds like the Garden of Eden don’t you think? Whatever is not of faith in God is sin. We are to do all in faith.
