I CAN DO NOTHING OF MYSELF
Friday – December 7, 2018, Kislev 29, 5779

Wow, isn’t the Word of God just wonderful?! This Word is our hope and it is our salvation. God is so very, very, good. Welcome back to this wonderful faith building and powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. If you are receiving this teaching on Facebook don’t forget to hit the “like” and “share” buttons. The featured picture today is another fall scene, a wonderful time of year here in the State of Maine. In a very short time all of this will be ice and white. I am writing this on the 29th of October, when it is published on the 7th of December perhaps there will already be ice and that white stuff. It will be pretty then as well, and no, I am not crazy, at least not to bad. Smile. Now let’s give our focus back to our Bible Study by reading our primary Bible text aloud.
John 5:28-32 (KJV)
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
As you will recall I have been talking about the resurrection of those who have done good which is to say those who had faith in God whether that be under the Old Covenant (before Jesus) or the New Covenant and those who did evil which is to say they did not honor God before the Cross nor after. Today I am moving on into verse thirty, thirty is the number for the Blood of Jesus. As we delve into this, I want to remind us all that Jesus is our primary example, one of our major goals is to be just like Him.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We are not to be conformed to the world which is to look like the world in thought, talk, and ways. We are to be conformed to Christ in our thought, talk, and ways. Remember Jesus commanded that we be like Him, that we be the gospel on display.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Now, as we return to our text (John 5:30) we hear Jesus saying that He can do nothing of Himself. Anything we think we have done we can know we are either trying to steal the glory from God which is not a bright idea or we did it in the flesh. Just as the Son of God who operated in His earthly ministry as a man could do nothing of Himself neither can we do anything supernatural ourselves. It is very important to understand that we have been given authority in the earth, and we are freewill beings. We can exercise our will in line with God or not. We can exercise our authority in line with God or not. When we listen and do the will of God, God the Holy Spirit and other ministering spirits are then loosed to function on a supernatural level in our lives. Before we finish for today let’s look at verse thirty in a different translation.
John 5:30 (PassionNTPsa)
30 “Nothing I do is from my own initiative, for as I hear the judgment passed by my Father, I execute judgment. And my judgments will be perfect, because I can do nothing on my own, except to fulfill the desires of my Father who sent me.
When Jesus says He executes judgment please don’t think this always represents something bad it can be quite good and it can be speaking or doing something asked of the Father. Jesus is saying I don’t decide any of this myself, it is decided by the Father, therefore I can’t go wrong for I am carrying out the will, the judgment of the Father. This is to be our way of operating as well. We can become proficient at this by practicing the voice of God in all situations and then doing what we hear. Align with God and the power will flow and we will look like Jesus and people can see the Father, keep doing our own thing and the world sees a poor, sick, and broken Church.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
