RESURRECTION OF LIFE – RESURRECTION OF DAMNATION
Thursday – December 6, 2018, Kislev 28, 5779
Greetings to the precious partners of this ministry as well as to the many friends of this ministry. Now, let’s turn our attention to this wonderful, powerful, and faith building Bible Study of the Book of John. Let’s start by reading our primary Bible text aloud.
John 5:28-32 (KJV)
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
I left off yesterday with the discussion of two great resurrections one for the saints of God or what Jesus refers to in our text as those who have done good and a second for those that have done evil. I discussed that at death those who have done good, that meaning they are born again, went immediately (soul/spirit) into Heaven, and those who have done evil (not accepting the sacrifice of Christ) went immediately into Hell. There appear to be three waves of the saints. The first occurred at the Resurrection of Christ from the dead.
Matthew 27:51-53 (KJV)
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
The second wave of the first resurrection is at the time of the Catching Away or more commonly called the Rapture of the Church.
1 Corinthians 15:51-54 (KJV)
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
And then the third wave at the end of the Tribulation.
Revelation 20:4-6 (KJV)
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Finally, we see the wicked dead (bodies reunited with their soul/spirit) being resurrected for the White Throne Judgment.
Revelation 20:11-15 (KJV)
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
This White Throne Judgment is not a surprise to anyone who appears there. In other words, you are not going to be in Heaven and then be shuffled over to the White Throne Judgment, no, you will have been in Hell since your physical death and the purpose of the White Throne Judgment is to adjudicate the level of eternal judgment. Just as the Bema or Judgment Seat of Christ is not to see if you are going to Heaven but to determine the level of reward one is to receive. It is also determined at that time the level of assignments one is given in Heaven.
