More snow, we get a lot of it here, it is beautiful, winter in Maine is all about mental attitude. Greetings dear ones and welcome back to my Bible Study of the Book of John. Our God is so good to provide clearly how we are to live to maximize our Kingdom work and our personal lives. If you are looking to nuance the Scripture you are looking for a way not to change, make your bad situation somehow the will of God, and not walk in faith, motivated by love, and led of the Spirit. Oh my, when I sit down here to write the Word of God, the will of God, the revelation of God according to the Living Voice that speaks from the Throne I had no idea there would be a need for fire extinguishers so early. I am hoping to finish off the seventh chapter of John today and move into the eighth chapter tomorrow. Now let’s read our primary Bible text aloud presented in The Living Bible translation.
John 7:45-53 (TLB)
45 The Temple police who had been sent to arrest him returned to the chief priests and Pharisees. “Why didn’t you bring him in?” they demanded.
46 “He says such wonderful things!” they mumbled. “We’ve never heard anything like it.”
47 “So you also have been led astray?” the Pharisees mocked.
48 “Is there a single one of us Jewish rulers or Pharisees who believes he is the Messiah?
49 These stupid crowds do, yes; but what do they know about it? A curse upon them anyway!”
50 Then Nicodemus spoke up. (Remember him? He was the Jewish leader who came secretly to interview Jesus.)
51 “Is it legal to convict a man before he is even tried?” he asked.
52 They replied, “Are you a wretched Galilean too? Search the Scriptures and see for yourself—no prophets will come from Galilee!”
53 Then the meeting broke up and everybody went home.
As you will recall the Jewish rulers, the religious ruling class are in a rage about Jesus healing on the Sabbath, His calling God, Jehovah, His Father, and calling them hypocrites I suspect did not help their mood. The Temple police were sent to bring Him (Jesus) to the rulers however they were not looking to discuss and settle theological differences they wanted Him dead, period. However, from the time Jesus entered His ministry upon the earth at His baptism in the river Jordan by John the Baptist no one could lay a hand on Him until He surrendered Himself. It is always useful to remember that the overarching purpose of the Word (Jesus from the womb of Mary) coming into the earth was to destroy the works of the devil. Of course, many other wonderful things were done for the people, Jesus was a demonstration project for us, He fulfilled much prophecy, and His life and Words brought much clarity to the will (Blood Covenant) of God.
The original intent of God was reestablished, the authority of His Covenant people in the earth was reestablished, and the Blessing (Day of Pentecost) became available to all in the Covenant. Once again men (and women) were living beings, with full capacity to fulfill the mandates of God for man in the earth. Listen carefully brother and sister, there is no force that can stand before us if we do it God’s way. The enemy through the world systems will bring pressure upon us for sure, I suspect you have noticed that if you have been alive more than a few minutes. The question is this, will we focus on and try to handle the pressure alone or will we continue to focus on the Word and the mission and let the Lord handle the pressure (temptation, tribulation, pressure). We are mandated to walk in faith which means that concerning any given thing there is only one possible outcome and that is the outcome the Scripture declares and we must declare with our own mouth.
The Lord says get yea up and be slack no more! As we continue with our primary text, we see the Pharisees in an uproar because the Temple police did not bring Jesus in to them. However, it is of note that they did not go get Him themselves even though there were lots of them. Then they start to ask if any of them had believed on Jesus and at the same time scorned the people. This goes on today in the so-called modern Church. If the crowds were “stupid” whose fault was that since they were the teachers of the people. Then these religious rulers pronounce a curse upon the people. Wow, just think on this for a moment. The very people God has entrusted to their care, for them to teach the way of love they are deriding and cursing. Just how uplifting you figure that would be to hear? At this point Nicodemus speaks up and encourages them not to judge Jesus without talking with Him, but they have no place for patience or righteous reason. They then scoffed at Nicodemus. Finally, they went their separate ways and Jesus’ ministry continues until the time of His sacrifice.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
