THE PROCESS AND MATURATION OF FAITH

Greetings to all who join and welcome to the start of a new study of the third chapter of Proverbs. At a recent meeting it was pointed out that it is useful not to leave ideas, Scripture, in the abstract but talk about what it looks like in life. This series of teachings will attempt to do just that. How is faith built and released? It occurs to me that the process is most always the same. Rather than just jump into our study of the third chapter of Proverbs we will explore a few Scriptures that will give us guidelines throughout our study. First how does faith in God come or how is it developed so that we are fully persuaded. Faith is a fruit of our spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
At salvation these come alive. These are identical to what our Lord possesses but in a infant, undeveloped form or level of function. Think about what a one-day old baby can do verses a healthy thirty-year-old person. In order for our faith to function concerning the Word of God we must put aside the ways of the world and adopt the ways of God. We must transform our thinking with the Word of God so that we think more and more like our Heavenly Father and talk more and more like Him as well. In this way we will bring Heaven upon the earth in our lives and those around us.
Romans 12:2-3 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Just as God has given “every man the measure of faith” so He has love, joy, peace and so on as well. These are not mature but with maturing function just like our Father, at His level far above the level of the world. Faith in anything comes from hearing about it and so it is with the Word of God.
Romans 10:17 (KJV)
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
We must hear the Word of God over and over with ears to hear that is not just gathering information but desiring to understand and implement. This takes time, it takes meditating on the Word and developing our level of function in the spirit realm. Much like in the natural realm. For example a student in first grade does not function at the same level as a college graduate.
Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
This is the Law of Success. It is very much the same in the natural world but in the fourth dimension (spirit realm) we are to function with excellence in the natural realm. However, we are able to bring what is impossible to others from the spiritual realm to the natural by faith (walking in love). That is, we can bring Heaven upon the earth. The following verse adds knowledge to the how.
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV)
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Verse twenty-three tells us how to remove obstacles in our lives by our spoken word and verse twenty-four how to bring the unseen desired things from the unseen to the seen. Now, a quick look at the first two verses of Proverbs and I’ll be back tomorrow.
Proverbs 3:1-2 (KJV)
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
TAKE HOME:
- Faith in God, in His Word comes by hearing and hearing. We must hear with ears to hear.
- Meditation upon the Word of God is essential transforming our minds making His thoughts our thoughts.
- We release our faith by saying with no doubt in our hearts, thought life.
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
