A LONG SATISFYING LIFE WITH PEACE

Greetings to all who join and welcome back to this study of the third chapter of Proverbs. At a recent meeting it was pointed out that it is useful not to leave ideas, Scripture, in the abstract but talk about making it one’s own to be implemented in our life. This series of teachings will attempt to do just that. Bottom line, you must chose to have ears to hear and eyes to see and a will to do. To do in the face of opposition, even fierce opposition. This opposition may not be people but circumstances of life even conditions in our natural body.
We must be prepared to walk in full confidence of the Word on the mountain, in the valley, and on the plain. This is no different than preparation in this natural life. If you are a surgeon, or think you are, the time to learn about taking out an appendix is not when the patient is before you going into septic shock heading towards a funeral. What is your first thought, where do you turn first when opposition presents itself? Do we turn first to the natural or the supernatural (review Jeremiah 17:5-10)?
Now, let’s jump back into the first couple of verses of Proverbs chapter three once again.
Proverbs 3:1-2 (KJV)
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
The Word of God is so wonderful and rich with every word pregnant with more and more Truth. This Proverb is no exception. We are sons which is far different from being a slave, a servant or an employee. Many are still children by choice. Let’s see what the Holy Spirit as to say through the Apostle Paul.
Galatians 4:5-7 (KJV)
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Wow, we are sons of God, not The Son of God, but sons, nonetheless. Not a servant but a son, heirs of God through and in Christ Jesus. As sons we are to be about the Father’s business building and restoring. Read the following caution.
Galatians 4:1-2 (KJV)
1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
This person remains a child perhaps by poor teaching, failure to study, failure to meditate the Word, and failure to do the Word. In an event he/she is not operating in the authority of a son but the very limited or lack of authority found with a servant. I don’t want to be this son, what about you. I don’t want to just squeak into Heaven but have an abundant entry hearing the words “well done good and faithful servant”. A son who serves by choice. So, what does the Policy and Procedure Manual say is the benefit of being a son, not forgetting His law, and keeping His instructions in the forefront of our thought life?
Proverbs 3:1-2 (KJV)
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
Wow, length of days, long life, and peace (Bible peace, God’s peace) are added to us! Let’s look at this in the New Living and Amplified Bibles.
Proverbs 3:1-2 (NLT)
1 My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.
2 If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying.
Proverbs 3:2 (AMP)
2 For length of days and years of a life [worth living] and tranquility [inward and outward and continuing through old age till death], these shall they add to you.
Do you have any interest in any of this?
TAKE HOME:
- We are sons, heirs of God through Christ Jesus.
- We must mature from childhood to maturity to walk in the fulness of sonship.
- Making the Word of God our own brings a long and satisfying life. One of prosperity and accomplishment for the Kingdom of God and our fellow man.
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
