ABOVE ALL FAITH IN GOD

Greetings to all who join and welcome to part three of this new study of the third chapter of Proverbs. At a recent meeting it was pointed out that it is useful not to leave ideas, Scripture, in the abstract but talk about making it one’s own to be implemented in our life. This series of teachings will attempt to do just that. Bottom line, you must chose to have ears to hear and eyes to see and a will to do. To do in the face of opposition, even fierce opposition. This opposition may not be people but circumstances of life even conditions in our natural body.
We must be prepared to walk in full confidence of the Word on the mountain, in the valley, and on the plain. This is no different than preparation in this natural life. If you are a surgeon, or think you are, the time to learn about taking out an appendix is not when the patient is before you going into septic shock heading towards a funeral. What is your first thought, where do you turn first when opposition presents itself? Do we turn first to the natural or the supernatural (review Jeremiah 17:5-10)? Now, let’s review the process of developing and releasing faith.
- Faith comes by hearing and hearing. (Romans 10:17)
- It is essential to meditate the Word of God and not let it depart our mouths for when we do something else takes its place. (Joshua 1:8)
- We release faith by speaking to obstacles, demons, to remove them from our path or to bring the desired things into our life. (Mark 11:23-24)
- Faith is a fruit of our spirit (like love, joy, peace, etc.) and must be developed into maturity just as an infant learns and matures. (Galatians 5:22-23, Romans 12:2-3).
- We must renew our minds, with meditation, to displace the ways of the world so as to know the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2).
Let’s jump into the first couple of verses of Proverbs chapter three once again.
Proverbs 3:1-2 (KJV)
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
We must never forget that we are sons of God, that is a vital part of our identity. This designation also tells us what sons are to be about, to do. How ought sons of God do? Let’s look at the Hebrew word transliterated to son in English. It is bēn meaning a son as a builder of the family name according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Its root word is bānâ meaning to build, obtain children, make, repair, or set (up) according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. We are to build up the family name, not tear it down. We are to represent the family of God, God Himself with all humility and dignity and excellence. This will draw others to the Kingdom of God, the family of God thus obtaining children. We are to make things better, repair to better than ever, and set up restoring what has been knocked or taken down. Does that remind you of anything?
Isaiah 61:4 (KJV)
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
As we examine the first verse of Proverbs three, we find the command, not a suggestion, nor something to do when you find time, but a command to “forget not my law”. We are commanded to be ever mindful of the law. This would be more than a reading once or once a year but a continual reviewing of the law, the instruction, the Word of God. Could it be sending us back to Joshua 1:8?
Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
As we bring todays teaching to an end let’s look at the word “law”. The Hebrew word is transliterated to English as tōrāh (the first five books of the Bible also known as the Tanakh) which is a feminine noun meaning instruction, direction, law, Torah, the whole Law. This noun comes from the verb yārāh which has, as one of its major meanings, to teach, to instruct according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. Did you notice that this word is feminine in gender? This tells us that the Word of God, the instructions of the Almighty, will bring increase. If God’s Word brings increase, then what do other words bring? Other words can seem to bring increase but will have baggage.
Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
The ways, the words, of the world, of Satan are vanity as King Solomon would put it. Would you rather be rich with sorrow or rich without sorrow, our choice.
TAKE HOME:
- It must be our priority to develop full confidence in the Word of God far above all other words.
- We are to be sons of God, yes, the ladies too, building the family of God name, bringing increase to the Kingdom and restoring what Satan has ruined in the earth which is bringing Heaven upon the earth.
- The law, the instruction of God, brings success, increase into our lives. We must choose to keep it in our mind giving it first place.
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
