TRADITIONS, LIES, and TRUTH – PART EIGHTEEN
PSALM 91 – PART THREE
Saturday – May 18, 2019, Iyar 13, 5779
Greetings dear saints of God and welcome back to this empowering and illuminating study of “Traditions, Lies, and the Truth” where we illuminate and separate traditions and lies from the Truth. Also, let’s remind ourselves that our general topic is prayer and essential role we must perform to bring the will of God into our lives and into the earth.
Psalm 91:1-8 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Oh, what a wonderful God we serve, as the song says we have a good, good Father. He has given us a roadmap which tells us exactly how to succeed in the Kingdom of God. He gave us freewill yet the devil has convinced a very large portion of the Church that God is totally calling the shots. Absolutely false. That is a discussion for other teachings to come. Right now, we are focused on the general concepts of prayer and decrees. As a very brief review, prayer is for finding the will of God, giving thanks, giving praise with underlying thanksgiving, and vows of submission to the ways of God 24/7. The outcome of prayer is the issuing or declaring of the Word of God to bring about the will of God in the earth. Remember, we have the authority, and He has the Power. Also, know that we are also priests in the earth and so another outcome of prayer can be intercession for another person or other persons and this should be a regular part of each of our prayer lives.
Okay, now let’s get to our primary Bible text which is the 91st Psalm and pick up with verse five. It is vital to remember that God has set a Blood Covenant in place for us through Christ Jesus. To enter the Covenant, we must be in Christ Jesus making Him our Lord and Savior. Like all Covenants there are obligations for each party and benefits for each party when the obligation is fulfilled. As we have studied this 91st Psalm we have found out that our Covenant provides for us to be sheltered in the secret place of the most High and to be so close to Him that we walk in His shadow. To make that a reality we declare it or decree it by faith. No promise of God is a reality in our life absent faith. In addition, the heart must be right, that is to say we have right motivations. As we study verse five, we find that we have an obligation under the Covenant to not fear. That does not mean we don’t feel (emotion) fear but it means we take fear captive and cast it down from our thoughts and our words. Fear is a sign that we do not trust the Father. When we don’t fear the terrors of the night and the arrows of the day, they are not a threat to us. That does not mean the terrors don’t present themselves or the that the arrows are not shot but that they have no impact on us. We can say; “what does that have to do with me.”
As we move forward into verse six, we find that we are protected from all pestilence and all kinds of destruction that may happen all around us. However, we must declare in faith with the right motivations (love [agape] of God and man) and we must fear not! Just by way of review about agape love, the key ingredient is selflessness which is also the triggering ingredient for Blood Covenant to be in full force. Notice verse seven, a thousand may fall at one side and ten thousand at the right hand but does not come near us! Know the Covenant, declare the Covenant in faith, and receive the fullness of the Covenant. All the while be listening intently for the still small but clear voice of the Holy Spirit. Finally, we see that we only look on and see what happens to the wicked. Be very aware that the wicked can be saint and sinner alike. Many born again peoples are neck deep in wickedness, which is anything that does not line up with the Word of God. Wickedness brings the curse into our lives. Do you still love me?

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
