THEN REMEMBER THEY

Greetings my dear friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries International. I do appreciate each and every one of you who follow this blog (The Three Minute Word) seeing, reading, and diligently studying it either on Facebook, your email inbox, Twitter, or LinkedIn. The featured picture today depicts the ever-present Pharisees. The pharisaical spirit is alive and well today. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of John, reading it aloud.
John 12:16-19 (KJV)
16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
As I have been discussing this week our study has entered the last five days of Jesus’ ministry in the earth as a man. We have been discussing Palm Sunday, the day the Lamb of God set Himself apart to be inspected of all peoples before going to the Cross. Those of you who have been reading and studying will recall that this mirrors the first Passover which led to the Children of Israel being released from the bondage of Egypt. Remember the blood of the firstborn unblemished lamb was applied to the door and protected their natural lives, not only of the people in the home (whole family) but of their livestock. The applied Blood of Jesus (by words in which we have faith) brings eternal life when applied and His promises sealed with that same Blood applies to our families (Isaiah 49:25, Acts 16:31). They were to consume the whole lamb that night and rapidly. This represents the body of Christ Jesus who bore our sins that we could live to righteousness. When the Father sees us who are in Christ Jesus, He sees the Son, and He sees us as without sin, as if we had never sinned. We honor this and acknowledge the reality of this at the Communion Table with the juice representing the Blood of Jesus, and the bread representing the body of Jesus sacrificed for us. Let us rejoice, He took our sins, they are blotted out, there is no record of us sinning, something those innocent animals could not do!
Romans 8:1-2 (KJV)
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Dear ones before we move along in this study please take a moment and reflect on the preceding two verses, look at each component part and the message for each of us (yes, even you). In verse sixteen of our text we see a reference to Jesus being glorified. I suspect many of you already know what this is referring to but I want to be clear for all as the Spirit leads. The glorification of Jesus in this reference has to do with His Resurrection, receiving an immortal body, and being restored as a co-equal person of the Triune God. Dear ones all of this will also happen to us except we will never be God with the capital G. We will however experience a resurrection with an immortal physical body like unto His and we will undergo a purification of our spirit and soul that brings us to a place in Him that boggles the mind.
As we press forward in our text, we find that many people who saw Lazarus raised from the dead are testifying and apparently, they attracted a great crowd. The raising of Lazarus was a type and shadow of our raising from the spiritual dead. This One who makes the coming Resurrection possible and eternal life possible today was standing among them that day. Five days later these things would be an accomplished reality. It would be finished. As a result of all these people gathering to Jesus the Pharisees were filled with jealousy, envy, and fear. They, the Pharisees said among themselves that they were not prevailing, in this imaginary popularity contest they were losing and Jesus was winning at least at that moment. As we will see even the people (some) turn against Jesus on the day of the Crucifixion. As a parting thought, we see verse nineteen, this same jealousy, envy, and fear between Churches and Pastors today which maintains the current disunity to Satan’s glee.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
