THE ETERNAL NATURE OF CHRIST
Friday – September 6, 2019, Elul 6, 5779
Greetings to the precious partners and friends of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word Blog. Also, welcome back to this empowering (to the extent we choose) Bible Study of the Book of John. The fullness of the Kingdom of God has come dear brother and sister! The featured pictures this week were of various Churches here in Maine, and we hope you enjoyed them. Of course, these buildings are not the Church, we the people of God are the Church. The picture today is of Donna and me on a recent trip to Margarita’s which a wonderful Mexican Restaurant in Augusta Maine. Now, let’s turn our attention to today’s Bible Study by turning our attention to the primary Bible text and reading it aloud.
John 12:31-36 (KJV)
31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
As we move to verse thirty-four neither the crowd or the devils considered that Jesus would be crucified and rise again and abide forever as God and as man providing eternal redemption for mankind, for all who would receive Him as the Christ. Think about the following.
1 Corinthians 2:7-9 (KJV)
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
The wisdom of God hidden in a mystery was unknown to the princes of this world (devils) and was unknown, unthinkable to fallen man. Both were incapable of knowing the mind of God the mind of Christ, but we brothers and sisters have nothing hidden from us as the supernatural children, sons and daughters of God.
1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV)
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. (bold added by Dr. Wood)
Let me ask, what is hidden from Christ? If your answer was nothing, then our answer to the following question will be ‘nothing’ as well. What is God hiding from us? The people were right when they said that the Christ was foretold to abide or live forever. Let us take a look at some of those Scriptures.
Psalm 89:3-4 (KJV)
3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,
4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.
The Seed is Christ Jesus! The Father made a Covenant with the Word, with the coming Christ, the one we call Jesus that He would be established forever and returned to the Throne. That Covenant started at the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8) and was confirmed first in animal blood and later in His own Blood.
Genesis 15:17 (KJV)
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
Jesus (the Word, the Christ) is the burning lamp. Our Lord and Savior is our eternal High Priest.
Psalm 110:4 (KJV)
4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
The following Scripture is no doubt more familiar. The people were right the Messiah was to be eternal, they knew the prophecy but could not see how an eternal Messiah would emerge from death. Only God!
Isaiah 9:6-7 (KJV)
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
