THE PROPHETIC VOICE – PART THIRTEEN
THE PROPHET SAMUEL
Sunday – September 15, 2019, Elul 15, 5779

Greetings dear children of God and welcome back to this Sunday series concerning Prophets and Prophecy. Hopefully each of us will find this quite instructive and use these teachings to establish proper order and understanding in the Church concerning all that are appointed of God to the Five-Fold Ministry. There are serious consequences for not honoring those Anointed of God to lead in the congregation, the Church. Unfortunately, many Churches are seeing those consequences and are searching in vain for other solutions to the problems in their particular Church. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give Donna and me some feedback and to partner in this way with the dissemination of the good news.
Let us take a look at how the Prophet Samuel was honored. Prophets like many of us may not have fully crucified the flesh and have flares of carnality of which they must repent like everyone else. However, when the Anointing rises up and they are operating in the office of Prophet we need to give them full deference and honor.
1 Samuel 9:5-7 (KJV)
5 And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us.
6 And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.
7 Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?
In this passage the soon to be King, Saul, and his servant were looking for Saul’s father’s donkeys. The servant suggests that Samuel is a reliable Prophet and they should go to him. But Saul says, what shall we bring the man? Saul knew that you are not to come before God or God’s man, the Prophet in this case, empty. Going to the man (person) of God to learn the will of God demands a gift. A general principle of Scripture is that when you receive of the spiritual from a person there is a duty to share the carnal (generally money) with that person.
Romans 15:27 (KJV)
27 It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.
The Jewish people have been the caretakers of the Scripture, even our Lord is a Jew, so we are obligated, and have a duty to support the Jewish people not just with words and prayer but our goods. This applies to all in the Five-Fold Ministry including our Pastors and Prophets.
2 Chronicles 36:16 (KJV)
16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
Galatians 6:7-8 (KJV)
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
To ridicule, to demean, or in any way dishonor a Prophet is very unwise and will result in the resistance of God in your life and even the wrath of God. You will reap what you sow so if you are reaping ridicule, demeaning words or treatment, and dishonor then look at how you are treating people, particularly the Prophet. If you do not honor the Prophet and the prophetic Word there will be corruption, which is the curse in your Church and personal life. On the other hand, honoring the Prophet and the prophetic Word, which is the Word of God, will bring the blessing which is life abundant (John 10:10). Remember the Prophet speaking to you or a Word of prophesy in the Congregation is no different than Jesus Himself standing in your face and saying the same thing (take a moment, I know that was hard to chew). Let us get back to Samuel for a minute. People honored Samuel, were even afraid of him.
1 Samuel 16:4 (KJV)
4 And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?
The Elders of the Congregation saw the Prophet coming and they were concerned as to what he might have to say. These Elders gave Samuel a high place in their thinking. What about you? Do you give the Prophet a high place? Do we speak glowingly of the Prophet then give their Words no place?
Matthew 15:8 (KJV)
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
The word heart here is the Greek word “Kardia” from which we get cardiac and means the middle man or the decision maker. When we see the Prophet what is our decision? When we hear the Prophet what is our decision? The answer to these questions makes ALL the difference.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
