MORE ABOUT A GREAT LIGHT
Friday – September 13, 2019, Elul 13, 5779
Greeting partners and friends of this Ministry and welcome back to this engaging Bible Study of the Book of John. The featured pictures this week have included Donna’s raised garden and lilies at the front of our home. She has had a ball with it, we both have enjoyed it say nothing of the fresh vegetable. The picture today is of Donna and me on my birthday in Boothbay at Kaler’s restaurant. By the way, they have a very tasty spicy lobster corn chowder. Now let’s delve as deep as the Holy Spirit will take us today into our study. First let’s read our primary text aloud.
John 12:36-41 (KJV)
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
Todays teaching is more about the Great Light which is Jesus and the light in general which is the Word of God, which is Jesus, spoken by the mouth of Jesus, the Word. It is a living Word because of the Anointing. The ideas came from the Father (Yahweh), spoken by the Word (Jesus), and performed by the Holy Spirit, the Power of God. The Word of God is spiritual light but it seems that in high enough dose it brings a certain physical light (even transfiguration) like when Moses’ face glowed after time with the Lord. The Word of God is not just light for us to keep us from stumbling but can provide light for and to the world. A worldly person can know the Word of God like they might know any other book and I am not talking about that. I am talking about Holy Spirit energized (Anointing) Word of God in a believer. A believer is one who believes not just in the head but in the heart and has faith which is unwavering, in that Word. It is then not idle or vain words but Words that change our world and the world around us. Jesus told us that while He was in the world, He was the light of the world.
John 9:5 (KJV)
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Since His ascension to Heaven we are the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14 (KJV)
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Now let’s look at the prophetic type and shadow of this in the creation, back to the beginning. I remember very clearly the day the Lord spoke to me and said that if I would (my choice) understand the Book of Genesis I could and would understand all things. Oh, what a ride He has taken me on in the Word of God. He has truly been my teacher.
Genesis 1:14-19 (KJV)
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Notice that lights divide between day and night between light and darkness. Light is good and darkness is evil. On this fourth day of creation we see a physical reality being established and a spiritual reality as well. The number four in Scripture has to do with light, authority and power. The great light that rules the day is God or now more specifically the Lord Jesus. The great light that rules the night is a false light and is Satan. Then we see the stars at the end of verse sixteen, the number of love. The purpose of the stars is to give light upon the earth, to rule in the night (wickedness) and the day (Church) and divide night (evil) from day (righteousness). Right now, and over time the Church has fled in terror from the wicked but from the beginning it was not to be so. When will we awake, arise, and walk in triumph?

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
